Hi Everyone
Early finish on a Friday and home (via Lidl for incredibly cheap courgettes!). Bought a pile of veg there day before yesterday. The cauliflower was huge (veg last night) and the main component of our dinner tonight is cauliflower cheese! We like about two non-meat/poultry meals a week! Still eating party leftover food - last night was roast pork and the gravy was made from the juices from the slow cooker (I always 'blanch' my roast in the SC with boiling water and use this for gravy.) I find that doing it this way keeps the roast moist during the cooking process. My SC is now about 10 years old and working as well as it ever did.
Another busy day at work - managed a quick squint at you all.
CrazyC - not like you to pop in from work!!!
PenPen - I heard that report too this morning about kids/food source etc and like you was quite shocked. However, I suppose some parents rather baulk at the thought of telling the little ones that the lovely beef, for example, comes from that lovely cow in the field over there!!!
Scuzz - glad you are thinking holidays. On your own?
PennyP - sorry to read your earlier post about your bum and tum! However, glad to hear you are just about there with the assignment. Only 250 to go, well done but don't overdo it please. What a find in the garage. Soap powder is so expensive. I always buy mine in bulk at Costco. Buy Fairy tablets for anything the boys have here needing washed but Costco don't do it. DD found Persil tablets made boys whites slight blue in colour so no point buying in bulk.
IvyL - sorry about your cat but wonderful news about a new DGC. As you probably know we are now due our third grandson 4 weeks today!!! Just love 'em but boy do I feel tired after the sleepovers!
N9eav - great news about selling the boat. I well remember those school years when they spring it on you for the dosh! It doesn't get any better!!! No honest, we helped our two out with deposits when buying homes (how else on the property ladder) as we would far rather give them now than have them wait until we snuff it! After all, we are all living longer! We made financial provision years ago in case they wanted to go to uni (student loan time) which neither of them did (both getting good jobs leaving school) so the Tessa money was theirs so to speak.
Aussie - hope you caught the ferry. Where are you headed. Wave to my DS if you pass near Drogheda on way to Dublin!
Twink - how is your son and wife? Hope all OK there. Did you and DGS3 do any shopping? You posted early today. Love to Kyle too.
Haribo - pleased to hear from you. Sorry you have to go through nasty procedures again. Was speaking to someone else locally last week (East Scotland) and her Mum had to be admitted for treatment in Newcastle. Is it because we don't have the right specialist care here or maybe as in your case it is a rather rare condition! Glad you have your new car.
Dlb - how is our dearest friend over the back - THE WITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I have been doing really huge copying and pasting while typing out this just in case I lose it as I have already had a DH alert because he wanted a chat (actually he is being a wee bit dummy out of the pram - I think he needs to talk to folk. Being in the house, although busy is a bit lonely! Then I just had to go down for a few sips of my Friday G+T. I have been at this since 4.30!!!!
Well have no doubt missed some of you out but not intentional. Hope you are all OK.
Someone mentioned Valentine yesterday or today. I was actually e-mailing her when I first signed up and would have gladly knitted a wee thing for the baby - she is due not long after DD but haven't seen sight nor sound of her for months. If you are reading, hope you are OK.
Love to you all

Hi all
Well we have 40 scones here waiting to be eaten - we did Saltana, Cherry, plain and Bannana ones - yummy.
Supposed to be tidying up because we have our first viewer tomorrow but I really can't be bothered.

Hi all, hope everyone has had a better day than me, really been struggling lately with things and find i am so drained with all the day to day stuff, most of u know i suffer agrophobia and going to cbt, well this past week has been pretty crap, not been out much, so am making a list tonight of the goals i want to achieve tomorrow and so forth.
OS wise hasnt been going well either, there is so much i could be doing, need to start doing my aromatherapy again, need to get garden sorted, and generally get a life!
New day and all as they say, big hugs to all who need, sorry just needed to moan a bit!

Kyle - sorry, sweatheart. You seem rather down tonight. Unfortunately I can't do much to help your agrophobia, but you do seem to get out a fair bit which is very positive. Do you have to force yourself? I can't offer any advice. I can say though when kids were wee I did get rather bogged down with doing all the mundane housey things with kids, washing, shopping etc and I did find it heavy at times, and sometimes I didn't see another adult for days on time apart from DH who worked long hours. I think I bordered on agrophobia at times and I do now think I was quite close to real depression at times. I used to think that because I hadn't been out, no-one would know if I was alive or dead (apart from DH of course). That's why I spent time talking to him tonight when got home. Know how isolated I felt when not communicating with adults! Take care and your dear Mum cares so much!
Lots of love

Evening everyone
Actually got out of work at 11 am on time!:j Called at the garage to book the Co. car in for Service and MOT on Monday, then quick trip to Aldi, and home. After quick sandwich Ham and Tomato for DH and Beef and Tomato for me, with a Light Frozen Yoghurt Desert (Yummy) all Aldi on their Brown Malted bread, using up what was left in open packets, remembered French Open Tennis was on Eurosport. That took us until 6.30 pm with a couple of hours zzzz's after 4.45am wake up call. Jackets Potatoes with Tuna and Beans for tea, then Springwatch review. Realy productive day :rotfl: :rotfl:
DH didn't pick up the scones for his packup at Aldi, so when I asked why he said they had changed and broke up and were pappy??. I suggested we make some, and that is now a proposal for the morning. Hope I can make them scones and not thick biscuits as mine usually turn out, even using the Chef to mix them. I can only try. DH and DS both want to get involved if I try to bake now, with a bit of luck they will turn into bakers and then I can stay on here - lol :j :j
Going to attack the side bedroom again this weekend I will get to the bottom of it, DS is coming home with a load of stuff from his uni room, so will probably be back where we started by the end of the weekend.
Kyle ((hugs)) to you, I haven't seen whether you said you mouth/gums were OK now, I am sure that didn't help you. Remember the dust will be there again tomorrow, so dont beat yourself up if it does get done every day (my solution is to take my glasses off - I can't see it then) Like GB can't offer any advise on the agrophobia.
Ivyleaf and all others (((((hugs))))
Still feel tired, sleeping in the day doesn't really agree with me. Daren't have a glass of wine, else I will be asleep again, and then won't sleep tonight. Think I may watch Housewife (49) with Victoria Wood with my Cross-stitch, that usually stops me nodding.
Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi Kyle
I do think you do really well. How would you feel with just a wee walk round the block with lo? I just don't have the knowledge to be really helpful but really supportive of you.
Lots of love

Evening all
Heard from new lodger today that she will be arriving on 1st July & staying 3 weeks so that will be a help.
Someone at work asked me today if I would help her, she & her family spend £80 a week at the supermarket & have a takeaway 6 nights a week, they go to Grandma's once a week for a decent meal! They are never well & at least on of the family is getting an upset stomach every week & they seem to catch every cold & bug going. Her workmates have been telling her it is the bad diet that is causing the problems & she seems to have finally accepted this. She has asked me if I would prepare a meal plan for her, I told her I'd have a go, but that I would need some idea of what they like, it's no good preparing a list of stuff they won't touch as she'll soon get disheartened, another problem is that she is very squeamish about eating & handling food & never touches vegetables except lettuce. I can see this being quite a challange, but I'm quite looking forward to it.
Wish me luck!
Hugs, Hester

How on earth do they spend that amount at supermarket if having carry-outs etc so much! I can't even think what they are spending it all on. We are hard put to spend £80 for total food bill over a month for two of us and no carry outs and there is the extras we buy for boys coming to stay - yogs etc, nappies, wipes etc. £Big spend at Costco to bulk buy t rolls, k rolls, washing powder etc but it lasts about 6 months.
Hope you and the animals are OK.
You must get a bit harder with lodger - she must meet the commitment of rent. Glad you will have a wee bit extra with second one (so long as pays up!).

Hi GB
I found out today the my lodger is being paid £120 a day, someone at work told me, same as you, they think I should push harder & I do intend to, it will be interesting to see whet she buys this weekend, she usually goes to Boots every Friday & comes back with 2 carrier bags full of toiletries!
