Old Style Friday 8 June

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone! Another overcast one here, but will get some time outside, later, to talk to my veg. Just heard a report on the news that many British adults have no idea where where food comes from  . Maybe we should set up an *Old Style working party* going into schools to educate the young :D Will see if I can find a link to the story, in a mo.

Big day here - DH is back from his travels :j he's been away for 2 weeks. We're going to take the children to see *Pirates* at the cinema. We don't want to see it (and I think DH will fall asleep from jet lag in a dark, warm cinema ;) ) so we'll go for a meal and a chat while they're there. Original plan was to go this evening, but might postpone until tomorrow, as DD and her friends are planning an *End of Ugly Betty* sleepover. That might not happen, though, as their planning and organising skills are still not brilliant  I don't get involved, though - think it's good experience for them.

Pooky, is your DD home? Mine was away for 10 days over half term - feels like forever, doesn't it?

Made Twink's *hobnobs* yesterday - they're absolutely yummy - thanks Twink. Take a look on the *Hobnob thread* that's around, or one of us will fetch a link, if anyone asks.

Well, today's *formatting surprise* is that in addition to Times New Roman, size 3, I also have italic as default :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: What does everyone else have?

Have a great day, Penny. x

Good morning Pen-Pen! And all who follow.
Times New Roman size 3, no italics:rotfl:

Has rained overnight and it's still grey and damp now, but *they* say it will brighten later for me. I'll not trust washing out until I see it with my own eyes.

Plans for today include wrapping DSis-in-law's present and baking her a cake, all to be given to her when she visits this afternoon. Before then, my visit to the gym and a quick tidy round of the worst parts. Spent too much time gardening, and not enough houseworking of late:D

Must go, there's barely time for my coffee if I want to be there by 7am.

    CMx

Good morning Penny, Dogrose & all to follow,

My formatting is still strange as well Penny but no italics here. My spacing bar is doubled as well but ok when I post. That report sounds awful. Fancy kids not knowing where food comes from. Well early start here so I can't stick around for long. Just having a cuppa. Have a lovely day everyone & ((((hugs))))) to those that need them
We catch the car ferry this morning to Ireland. Looks calm :D Talk later. Byeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Another lovely sunny Cornish day. Friday with saturday off has a nice feeling to it.

I sold my boat so I shall soon have the cash for that and be able to get back into my driveway:j . On the down side, I have to write loads of cheques out for the kids. School leavers ball, 2 lots of activities, camps, etc..... Can't avoid it:mad:. It's good to see the kids having a good time though.
Well best get ready... Big steak for tea I think. I feel it coming on. I got a load of rib-eyes cheap the other week and so I amlooking forward to one of those on the BBQ....

Here's the report - Public unaware of food origins
Just heard on the radio that some children, when asked, thought red milk was from girl cows, and blue milk from, wait for it, boy cows (bit of a biology update needed, too, it seems). Don't know whether to :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: or

    Good morning everyone,

Ive still got probs before i press submit as well, it also takes me back to the top of the page everytime i press the thanks button!!!

A quiet day for me today, i only have one LO here, so he will get lots of attention - and i will prob be able to catch up a bit with my cleaning (although i got a burst of energy last night after watching 'how clean is your house' i always do, although my house has never been as dirty as the houses they show on there!!!)

Dinner is already made, HM pizza, so just need to cook it later, but LO and me might make some cakes later for dessert, he loves cooking (especially cracking the eggs).

Nothing much else going on - CrazyChik - my friends DD is fine, she went back home yesterday and although she is a bit down (understandably, her mum and sister in Oz, her gran dying, her dad stuck in Leeds and her GCSEs all at the same time) i think she is doing really well.

Well, better get moving, loads i would like to do before LO gets here, DDs bedding is already on (she ended up back in with me last night, so not much sleep again for me, but at least the washing will be done/dried/put away early, sorry to those who have dull weather, but its lovely here!!) and my cuppa is just waiting to be drunk!!!

    Have a lovely day everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning everyone
It's wet here and likely to be for most of the day typical as I have washing to do
have to go to the shops to pick up papers and dd's next bottle of antibiotics
need to make the packed lunches in a mo once I've worked out who is where today
I found out yesterday ds2 is being bullied at school so last night we wrote down everything thats been happening so it can be taken to school today and something done about it
I also need to get some flowers delivered to ds1's pastoral assistant at school as she has been fantastic in sorting out his problems and arranging for him to get tested for dyslexia and then getting him extra help
times ticking on so I best get moving
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: to all esp Ivyleaf Anniestar penny pincher and scuzz and anyone else who wants one
