A BIG THANK YOU TO DONNIE FOR PROVIDING ME WITH THE CD!!! :j

Now, When I insert the Boot CD it comes up with a screen saying partition files. That means deleting all old files which I cant do as I need them. Thats the only option, partitioning, any way round this?

I also go the Hirens Boot CD which loads up when I insert it but dont have a clue on how to use it, so, will leave it till I get some advice from people on here!

    Thanks again,

    -MoE-

    Boot CD or Windows XP?

Use the Windows CD-ROM to start your computer. At the "Welcome to Setup" screen, press F10 or press 'R" to repair.

When I put the Windows XP CD in and start the computer it says 'press any key to boot cd' and when I do press a key it goes straight to windows setup and loads all the files up then gives me the option to partition the files.

Windows doesnt start normally with the cd. It should, shouldnt it?

The windows CD starts the windows install process but the very first blue screen you get has an option to recover using recovery console by pressing the R key that is the one you want

then type chkdsk /f and it will sort it out it can take about 20-40 minutes.

No. It says press any key to boot cd which is what I do.

Then a blue screen comes up which starts to load files automatically, this take1 minute and then gives me 1 option to partition my files, I have 2 files to select from but nothing about recovery is there. I pressed R, no luck! there is no option.

The Cd doesnt start windows normally it goes straight to the blue screen after I turn the computer on.

Donnie gave me Hirens CD. Not sure what that does.I got a little extension until Monday by my lecturers so not that bad.

    Bump!

Help me please!!! Windows start, black screen loads like usual showing computer info e.g. AMD and so on and the processor type.

Then the blue screen loads up only offering me to partition the files I got. There a C:/ drive which is partitioned and there another space which isnt partitioned and says unpartitioned and has 8mb or something like that free.

    Just back from dinner.

What happens when after you have taken the CD out and re-booted without it?

I thought Donnie was giving you a windows CD? you need a windows XP home install CD.

what CD are you putting in the drive?

Im putting in the windows xp cd but I also have a Hiren's CD which is like some sort of PC Doctor. Donnie gave me both of those CD's last night which Im grateful of.

Without the Windows CD the computer comes on with the black screen showing processor info then about 3 seconds after showing that a blue screen comes up saying error. (The actual message is typed up above)

With the CD the black pages comes up with the processor info and then a different blue screen comes up...at the bottom it says loading files, this takes about 60 seconds and then gives me the partition page where I can only partition the files.

It doesnt start windows normally. I remember a while back my brother done this and windows would normally start like normal and then you will be in the desktop but now I cant even get into the desktop the blue loading screen comes up just after 5-6 seconds of turning on the computer.
