Why do I keep getting all these calls saying my hose has been mis-sold and I can get compensation.

You could post on Consumer Rights board as Lokolo has said, but I would suggest the House Buying, Renting & Selling forum would be more likely to know the answer.

Off the top of my head you can occasionally sue the surveyor if it is something they should have spotted but did not. A water leak doesn't not sound very predictable to me though. Your claim will be weaker still if you opted for the basic valuation rather than the pricier full structural survey.

I doubt you have a case against the seller themselves. It was up to you to get the property checked before buying it.

Water leaks should be covered under your home insurance though. You did take out home insurance didn't you?

Caveat emperor? Emptor. Can't you just take your leaking hose back to the shop? Why do you need to sue anyone?

They did. It must have had water in it, which leaked out; this is something all emperors need to beware of when buying hoses.
