Yes - me for one at least, I am ashamed to say. The new way of posting the dailies saves me hours every month and I would be gutted if it went back to the old way which involves opening the MSE thread for each and then clickling in that to open the actual comp.

I really should go down the thread like others clicking thanks and I will try and do so after reading this, but I bet I'm not the only one that used to click thanks on the old posts (cos they were open anyway and it was easy) and doesn't any more.

On the point about it being hard for new people to find, there are all sorts of quirks and peculiarities about this board to learn when you start, and I really don't think the old way was any easier to get started on. As an end date comper, I would only come across the mag dailies on the main board a day or two before they finished, which would be pretty pointless!

There is plenty of help for people if they look and/or ask, as many seem to.

Finally, I do agree that there have been lots of people posting to say they have given up on the dailies because they are spread across several mags and take longer to do. I was on the point of doing the same until I won 3 in 4 weeks including a very big win and I don't think I'll ever stop them now!

I am afraid that all the number of thanks shows is the number of people who have clicked the thanks button, no more, no less.

Sorry, but this only adds up if the only entrants come from here which is far from the case. Until the last month I have been winning far less than I used to since the posting method changed.

You are perfectly entitled to not like the new system and to say so of course, but the data you are quoting to show that it does not work is far from clear cut or scientific.

I haven't commented so far but have to say I much prefer the way that these comps are posted now and to me if this way is easier for the people who post them, that should be what counts the most. I find just entering them every day time consuming so am eternally grateful to those who find time to post them too.

Just for the record I enter them everyday as I have always done and have won a lot less this year than previously so plenty of people must be finding them somehow:)

I also apologize but since they have been posted this way I no longer thank each individual post since I only work from the first page. And yes I always, always thank on the main board!

For what it is worth, I do far fewer of these daily mag comps since the prizes are spread over several of them.

I subscribe to the thread and check every day for any new listings, click through to the mag and save to an appropriate folder and work from there each day.

I thank the threads of any I have decided to enter. I am happy with the new thread.

I now am only entering about 30 daily across these mags as opposed to up to 200 at one point since stopping doing the ones over 6 or so mags.

Since the start of this year I have been very lucky with wins-
January=3
February=2
March=2
April=4
May=2
June=1
July=0

Not sure of the significance of 0 wins this month but no plan to go back to doing any more as takes far too long.

I am a horrible person because i had the ignorance not to know that Cornish Pasty could not comment when i started this post.

I am stupid, because very obviously the thanks count is down, not by a little but a very large percentage because people are now too rude to thank, and not because they are not entering the competitions.

I am an idiot, because the couple of people who posted before i posted (hamsterfan posted while i was posting my post, so missed that one until i had already posted) confirmed what i thought, they had been winning more - but obviously that is a fluke because a few people say they are winning less - sorry im so thick.

No problem, i thought i would just start a debate but if i am so wrong in thinking that competitions are meant to be at least seen by everyone, rather than those who are happy to do a very small extra to find them then maybe everyone can stop posting and the thread will just disappear.

I was obviously wrong, the majority who posted on here want to keep it the same so i dont need to comment again.

I won't speak for Bluebella, but as I said above, I wasn't suggesting anything when I mentioned the irony of the timing. It is ironic - surely you can see that. That does not mean I was accusing you of anything. I thought I made that clear.

This is getting daft now. There is no point turning this thing into yet another forum argument. We all want the same thing, to find the most practical and sensible way of sorting the magazine dailies out. Can't we debate this without letting it degenerate into a row? Perhaps not. I will bow out here, and leave you lot to it.

I am not disagreeing to anything you have said, you could be totally right less people enter them because they don't know they are there or can't find them

I did offer a option which might help to see if this is the case or not, I understand it's not 100% full proof but surly it has to be better than nothing?

Nothing on this website is worth getting upset about, I should know

You are neither horrible, thick or stupid and I would hate you to genuinely think that you are. You had every right to start a debate on this, just as others had every right to disagree with you.

The trouble is that none of us have any hard evidence that conclusively proves any of the points being debated so we are all using anecdotal evidence which is normal in such circumstances but can never prove or disprove anything.

I am truly sorry that you dislike the new way of posting and I think we could now use this thread to try and identify solutions to the visibility issue rather than trying to prove or disprove anything.

I know that there is a beginner's guide to using the comping boards. Can or should this be updated to explain where the dailies are and how they work?

I subscribe to the daily mags thread and receive an email whenever a new comp is posted - and as soon as I look (and before I enter) I thank the poster. I do win less now but I think it is down to the prizes being split across the mags and not down to less people entering. I have never heard any of the regular posters on that thread complaining about the lack of thanks - and that is why I appreciate their work even more.

Comping cat - I don't think your any of the things you suggested (and I hope I didn't imply any of these in my post) nor do I think that most of the people posting think that of you either.

I think it is important that if people don't like the way something is done (especially a fairly new feature of the board) they speak up (as you have done) and canvass opinion. Otherwise the boards can't/won't work in the best way that they can.

What I will say, not specifically to yourself but more generally as I see this happening time and time again, is that if you do put your opinion forward or suggest a change you are going to have people come forward who disagree with you (life would be boring otherwise!) and it nothing more than a different viewpoint on the matter.

I think that's all people are meaning in the comments on this thread, they have a different opinion.
