Blulu I see your point and agree with it, the best solution in my opinion would be to make it a sticky somewhere but that's already been asked and refused (I don't know if there is a reason for that).

As far as newbies seeing it, most mornings it is updated with new competitions, jambodave goes in at midnight most days and updates, if he isn't around Cornish/myself/fire**fly or a few others will update fairly early morning so that automatically bumps the thread bringing it to the top of the board, therefore meaning pretty much every day the thread is on the front page.

Being on the front page most days would bring it to the attention of anyone new to the boards I would have thought, failing that there are still links on Glad's daily board.

I am aware I am heavily in favour of this, and I am not negating anyone's opinions as each have the right etc, however what I am trying to get across is that this saves so much time for both the posters and the people who are entering so the majority seem to like it, and as it is impossible to please everybody all the time does the majority not make sense to go with?

I agree with this. I think it would resolve the problem. Failing that, would it help if it was moved to the dailies board/thread or whatever it is called :o

Would it help everyone if there was another poll put up asking if people like the new way or the old way better?

And is there a chance for once we could put it on the main comp board so that everyone can see it?

I do know this is going to annoy a few people because rightly it should be in this section, but if the points of Comping Cat are correct that people do not see the daily Mag Thread at all now, it would need to be tested on the main competitions board?

I actually really like the way it is now, but do want everyone to have a fair crack at it daily, & I think this would be the only way to test this.

I have won once the old way of posting & once the new way of posting

I would be very interested if someone would be honest enough to admit who many times they have won since this new system has been added......

hi comping cat, I've won roughly about the same times on the dailies now as they're posted as when they were posted before :)

eta.. just checked & I've had a couple more wins than before

To be honest I don't really mind whether the magazine dailies are on the main board or a separate thread. I only enter the magazine dailies once per comp. However, I do find them all on one thread slightly easier to keep track of and can do them all together when I do enter.

I do think that there are many reasons why there are less thanks not just those mentioned - many people might know where they are but don't bother to look at the thread whereas when they were listed on the main board they may have thanked the poster without entering or just entered because it was there.

Comping cat- I do understand where you are coming from and it is quite possible that less people are entering with them posted in this way and I agree that it is a shame for people to miss out because they haven't found it (although I should say that I didn't enter either the TAB or Puzzler comps for over 6 months because I was confused by the thread! so it's not just the magazine dailies).

Although I agree that comps where possible should be posted to benefit the majority I think it's important to remember the people who post the comps in this.

If I remember correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong) the main reason the magazine dailies ended up on one thread was because of the effort and time it took posting them the old way. I believe one of the regular posters decided they could no longer spend so much time posting and no one came forward to offer to take the slack. There is still only a handful of people posting the magazine comps as there was before, and I can't see this changing if we went back to the old way.

I don't think the daily comps are hidden away for a select few, rather every comp out there is here to find for anyone that puts a few minutes effort in. Similarly to the postal, text etc thread - you have to look, but its all there. For what it's worth, I think that you either do dailies or you don't. When I first started comping and the mag dailies were posted on the main board, I would often enter once and then forget all about it. This was before I got in the daily habit! And I doubt I was the only one. Now I'm a daily convert, I like having everything in one thread that I keep bookmarked and look at each day. The thread is bumped every time a new comp comes on so it's not as though nobody sees it. I agree with comments above, we shouldn't need spoon feeding comps, most people know about mag dailies and either do them, or can't be bothered to!!! ( they can be a pain so I totally get why lots of people don't like to do them)
Oh and as for better chance of winning - I wish!! I've only had 2 wins from them in a whole year of doing them religiously!

Imagine you are going into the magazine thread for the first time.

You go into the first page and you are bombarded with links.

You scroll through the pages - the first so many are full of expired competitions, so many different magazines.

You see a prize you like, but it is listed with a load of others that you are not interested in.

And then, on top of all that, you can enter every day and when you come out of it there are hundreds more competitions on the main board - which are not bundled together.

Is anyone really saying, that this is a fair way of posting?

I am old enough, ugly enough and have been here long enough to work out my own system of entering competitions - a lot of other people are the same.

However there are far more people who are new, not organised, dont have much time etc who want to come and enter competitions as simply and easily as possible.

Even as a sticky, all the threads that are bundled together (including the puzzler and TAB ones, the only reason im not complaining about them, is because someone actually pays money before they post for the benefit of everyone else, but why they are together when other paid for magazines are on the main board i will never know) are not a good way for the majority of compers to either enter or think of entering.

    Comping Cat,

Do you like the idea I came up with post 24 It could include options like do you know where the Daily mag thread is?

so the questions could be Do you know where the Daily Magazine thread is?

Im not keen on polls, from past experience polls get voted on by people who have an opinion either way, the majority arnt really interested. Ive only ever voted on polls ive been interested in, i dont bother with anything im not, and at a guess (and knowing how many thousands of people who come onto this board compared to how many vote in a poll) i dont think we would be catching the people that count.

Also, a few years ago (when the monthly thread went ( i still wish they would do away with the weekly one) the daily one is the only one i see a benefit in, but that is another discussion completely) during a very heated debate about how comps were posted, it was agreed ALL COMPETITIONS were to be posted on the main board and then linked to any relevant section (a poll was done for that too, but hundreds, not thousands of votes happened) but this magazine thread does not do this, its one thread on the main board, not all competitions.
