My friend can still be made to swear now if you utter the words "multi-coloured explosions" to him.

Lol really, what was your friend expecting? I mean the endings were always going to be basically the same, it was an inevitable ending with slight variations expected due to bioware saying we would have choice variations at the end. They couldn't be wildly different due to future game plot nightmares, the lore you've established would need to be basically the same for everyone (although Shepard's story is over, a comment was made saying to hang onto our saves). In future games I expect the game lore ending and various major choices established throughout the game will have a huge impact on how the future Mass Effect universe has developed, if certain races even exist anymore and if certain DLC races are a problem etc.

If you mean how the ending designs were handled rather than the actual end choices, I agree it was a bit lazy to have only slight differences in the script and graphics (colour choice huh :p) in each end choice, they could have done so much more but tbh EA were apparently pushing on deadlines and I think they might have rushed it because of that. I think they realised their mistake pretty quickly though when everyone started complaining so we were given the free extended cut download which padded out the ending with extra scenes and dialogue which they called the cast back in for. Might have been to little to late for some, or not enough for others but went a long way to helping as did DLC IMO. I still think the game was amazing for the most part as was the series as a whole. Looking forward to the next one :T.

I suppose I should be excited for the ps4 but I just can't so I might just cancel my pre order.

I am thinking the same. I am looking forward to seeing the xbox 1 and playing it at friends, but there is no way I am buying it at launch, or any time in 2013 at least. the 360 has so many good games coming out so for the time being I don't see the need.

    Virtual reality Everquest/WoW.

Haha. The day Everquest Virtual Reality comes out will be the day I kiss goodbye to normal real life forever, I reckon! WoW, not so much, but I'd play it.

In the mean time, EQ Next will do. Can't wait!
Also looking forward to Elite: Dangerous for nostalgic reasons, but it's a distant 2nd on the list.

(THAR BE MASS EFFECT SERIES SPOILERS AHEAD)

I think overall the ME series is one of the best I've played. I'm not normally one to complete games in a timely manner, or even stick to playing through one game at a time, but ME1, ME2 and ME3 were finished off pretty quickly by my standards because I thoroughly enjoyed them.

While I was disappointed with the endings, the comments about "Not being a choice between ABC" by Bioware only to see a choice between red, green and blue and the utter nonsense being spouted by the god child my biggest problem with the game is just how much of an anti-climax the final mission was.

ME1 had it's issues, the exploration wasn't brilliantly done, a lot of those side missions that you feel you have to do on a replay because they can affect ME2 & ME3 lose a lot of their charms due to the fact that after a while it seems you're just driving like a loon on a planet, again and calling the central narrative related missions "Race Against Time" was a bit of a misnomer, as it might encourage people to play through campaign missions first and what happens when you complete the campaign? You complete the game and can't go back and finish off those missions without starting a new game.

But what ME1 did have was an exciting final mission; you've got your squad to the conduit and you're fighting through the Citadel to retake it from the Geth, meanwhile the Normandy is rallying the Arturus Fleet so it can provide fire support against Sovereign. You have some truly fantastic cutscenes, particularly if you choose to save the Destiny Ascension, a decent boss battle and then your reward of Shepard standing tall and proud after the final cutscenes. That's cool.

ME2's suicide mission is all kinds of brilliance. While you're still restricted to taking two people along with you at any given time, the fact that all these people you've spent the past thirty hours finding and doing favours for (Cerberus was pretty benevolent when Shepard was around :D) have the appearance of actively being involved on the Collector Base assault is marvellous. While you're taking the point team, you've got Garrus leading a fire team and Tali crawling through a vent to disable security. Combined with the cutscenes there is a sense that everyone is playing a part in the mission; you even see your squad mates providing you fire support as you get through a door. Even Joker provides you with fire support as you make your escape to Jack Wall's incredible, rousing soundtrack.

But with ME3, Priority: Earth, which should have been the action centrepiece for the series and the culmination of everything you did... it feels flat. There's little in the way of space combat, but okay, I can live with that. Going to all that trouble trying to get the Krogan onside seems a little pointless now because Wrex appears to have brought about 8 of them. I can't even recall the Geth sending any ground troops. Your squad, which was horribly small in ME3 compared to ME2 as it was, doesn't even appear to actively do anything. You select your two and the others pop off somewhere and have a smoke break.

And after all of it, after trying to get the adrenaline flowing as much as you can, the game's big finale is 15 minutes of chatting and three choices with negative connotations given to you by the head of the enemy for whom you now are supposed to trust absolutely. No big finale, no sense of being part of a truly massive force... just a bit of a fight, a long chat and that's it.

And that's where ME3's ending fell flat for me. I can live with the RGB even though I disliked it, I could live with Shepard dying (although obviously if you have High EMS and pick destroy then you're left guessing on that one) but it's such an underwhelming finish to what until then was an exciting series.

I also wasn't fan of the fetch quests, as Shepard is apparently the nosiest person in the galaxy, and only the single hub world actually made the galaxy feel smaller.

(Text removed to cut post size :A)

    Possible spoilers.

I agree with you on your summaries, I loved the Mass Effect series, I played them so much I managed to collect all achievements on two and three and most on one. ME1 and two had a few problems (I think DLC really padded out the ME1 experience for me, but I was a bit disappointed with some of the ME2 DLC although the core game I really enjoyed) but overall were amazing. But I agree three was a let down without a proper boss fight (marauder shields tried to warn us :p) although I'm not sure what they could have done for a final tbh, maybe another reaper like on Rannoch  I was also disappointed with certain missions. I didn't hear mention of the Geth in my take back earth summery either tbh, I saved them and the Quarian's but I don't remember them being in the lineup. Apart from Grunt (whom you just talk with via comm) I did see a few more Krogan in the extended cut scenes celebrating but Wrex (and Wreav on playthroughs with him) seemed to have a weirdly small number with them at the meeting point it's true. The ghost child and the grandfather(?) at the very end scene was confusing tbh, I'm not sure what that was about.

I was just making a point in my previous post that although disappointing and slightly confusing at the end (even with extended cut with reference to the ghost child) the game also had some pretty amazing and emotional moments, even at the end (your LI goodbye, the illusive man's realisation and suicide, Anderson saying you did good and that he's proud of you as you watch the arms of the citadel open etc), and shouldn't be written off entirely as a bad game. A rushed game certainly, but not a bad game. Also tbh I kind of expected the ending(s) to be as it was, I expected that the hype about all our choices making vast differences wouldn't be lived up to so maybe I was prepared for it. I was very disappointed my mech dog on the Normandy wasn't a companion as had been promised though :p.

Btw I always picked destroy ending because I wanted my Shepard to live, I'm almost certain it's her as a female was in the rubble in my game (I always play as femshep as I can't stand male shep's voice), and your LI doesn't put you name on the wall if you lived, just holds your nameplate and looks off into the distance hopefully. The official N7 game guide does state Shepard lives under the conditions met so I'm assuming that's accurate. Because in my head cannon synthesis was a reaper trick and control was something more in keeping with the illusive mans ideals.

Correct. GTAV in September is the big one- and the Xbox and PS4 are RUMOURED to be released six weeks later. A fatal mistake. If they had just waited and done it as One/PS4 release only I think many more people would flock to buy the new consoles as well.
