Thanks Ukevas!!! Where abouts in London will you be?? I Might be able to recommend a nice run for you - I live in zone one - so lots of lovely running alog Embankment :D

So if you do 1:06 Rich you'll be about 6:40 pace and I'll be doing my marathon pace hopefully - so you are way ahead of me at this stage because your marathon pace is just over 7 mins/mile isnt it??

    Drat - grrrrrr ;)

I've got 3 weeks less to my marathon!!!

But 6:40 could be about marathon pace, it just depends on how the rest of the training goes. Ideally, 6:25 would be nice to flirt with a PB:D :D . But that may be stretching it a little even though things are going well so far!

  • just thought i would say hi
i am currently starting to run again although i never really got to any great standard last time (ran / hobbled the london marathon 2years ago. i never really managed to stay fit that was my problem.
now it is different because I have not set myself any targets, i have just started running into work and back a few times a week. its probably around 4 miles e/w and although slow its nice....along the south bank in london.

no doubt i will annoy you all with silly questions, but for now just wanted to say "hi"

ps...38 mins apprx best time....not really measuring distance or time that carefully yet.

good luck to you all.....and any tips etc always appreciated

Hi all, have had a horrible weekend with poorly back - feeling sick with the pain but is slowing getting better. Unfortunately I've hurt my back quite a few times in the past so happens now and again. I really should look at doing some exercises to build up the strength in the muscles.

Glad everyone OK, hope the blisters get better soon Hypno x

Well, you've been around London so you've got a pretty good idea what its all about.:D

Those slow 4 mile runs are absolutely ideal to get you back into it. Keep those going until you get the urge to push on and do a bit more and maybe you'll then start getting the idea in your head of setting a target for yourself again.

But silly questions are what we do best - fire away......:p :p

That sounds annoying to say the least. Have you had a proper diagnosis in the past or is it something you basically grin and bear?

Certainly to strengthen the lower back without putting too much pressure on it, consistent walking with significant uphill sections is a good starting point.

Have you had any physio on it?

Sally, well done! Your break over Christmas has done you no harm - you are well into the swing of things again.

Well done Sally - ooo I've ummed and ahhed over a garmin for ages, but I've settled on another trip to NY in April instead - oh coachie is it okay for my to fly the day after FLM?? Cheap flights that day is all :D

Sorry about the back evab :(

And welcome Mascott - you wont be lonely running along there - its a choc a block of runners at the moment - I counted 35 on my way home (not including me of course) - its good because there's always someone better than you and someone worse so you never feel silly, but there's a target whizzing past every minute or so :D
