Hi All,
I (re)started my running routine yesterday after taking over a year off
I got married last year and shed loads of weight to get into my suit. However I soon slipped back into my old habits and have gained loads of weight since.
So I'm back pounding the streets.
It really was hard going but I'm determined to keep it up again.
I've created a motivational poster and put it up on my office wall

The shot in the red top was me last year, the green top a few weeks ago
Hopefully in a few months I can post the revers of this imageDebts:

Good idea - constant reminder of the target.
Although I think a more effective way of achieving your aim may be your username rather than running!;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi 30-
I'm going to throw a slight spanner into your works here-I love that like me you are determined to use running to help you lose weight/get fit etc but I would persoanlly just use the nice fit picture and delete the 'negative' one as it is not projectinve your new positive image. Also, stop calling yourself 'Fat Boy' (pop pysch 101) but it's true.
Also, I reccently had a friend point out that by using certain words to describe things you are building up the wrong connatation in your mind. ie. to LOSE weight implies that you want to find it again...that is why I am 'reducing' my weight-I dont want the !!!!!!y stuff to find me again!

Okay, thats the first race entered - in 9 days time and it cost NOWT!:p
So, the aim was Leeds Abbey Dash 10K on 23rd Nov, but since they decided the race was full, a 5K round the corner the day before seems a reasonable substitute. And saved a few quid into the bargain.
So the Hyde Park 5K on the 22nd it is!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Love the poster Fat BoyGreat motivator. Its amazing how things can slip when you take your eye off the ball. I'm a firm believer that running/jogging is one of the best, if not THE best way to shed the pounds. And it makes you feel so much better. There's nothing like that smug glow you get when you have been out for a run.
Welcome to the board, there are some brilliant people on here who will keep you motivated and encourage you every step of the (virtual) way. And don't forget, the hardest step of any run is the first one out of the door. They are all much easier after that one.
Phew, that's me, all motivated out. Off for a little lie down now......Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Hi all, and thanks for the kind words,
Bunny, you're probably right but I have this weird self image that deludes me into thinking i'm built like brad pitt, I need the reminder there to let me know that I don't(not yet anyway)
You're also right about the terminology used, I was very careful when I stopped smoking to avoid phrases like "giving up" or "quiting".
As for the username, its purely because I enjoy the red hot chilli peppers and they did a track called "thirty dirty birds" and its usually a username thats always avaialble

Thanks again all!, I'll try to keep updating as I progress.Debts:
