Everyone looks so fab! No photos of me I'm afraid........because there aren't any on my laptop - loads of the kids skiing, and lots of "mystery shop venues"! but none of me!

I have been for a short run - 2.61 miles - I went a bit quicker, and got back in 26 mins 26 seconds which is 10min 09 seconds a mile.

all I need to do is to multiply that by 10 and I will be home in the marathon in my 4 hours 30!! Simple :rotfl:

As my running buddy, Pania is moving away from my area I am having to find a running club - I have sent a couple of emails out and hope that I can get something lined up for next week.

The one that is most convenient has a session on a Monday where you get a choice of either a 5/6 mile run or an "effort session" which I probably need! Then on Thursday they do a women only run.

My question for Coach Rich, therefore is:

If I do my long run on Sunday (which fits in nicely with the kids ski training), will I have enough strength to do an "effort session" the following day, or should I try and do my long run on Saturdays instead to give me a rest day on Sunday?

Sunday really is better for me as the children ski for 3 hours, so gives me plenty of time for longer runs, but I don't want to struggle too much the following day!

    Any help gratefully received!!

  • Hypno, I'd say leave things as they are - Sunday long run, then Monday as you feel. Its supposed to be an easy Monday run but if you push it along a bit it can't harm with having a rest day Tuesday.

But the long run is the key session, so let the Monday session suffer and become easier if you're struggling to manage both.

Thanks rich - I will give it a go next week and see how the land lies - I suppose I can always do the steady run on a Monday if I feel tired with the legs.....one good thing is that they publish their "schedules" on a monthly basis on their website, so you know before you arrive what route they will be taking for their run and what the "effort" session will consist of, so I suppose I can at least make an informed decision!

It is so hard trying to fit all this in :o Bloomin kids

THIS is the November Monday session list that I was looking at.....

The women's run on a Thursday is a straightforward run I think.

    Walking Cuts Cravings For Chocolate

WALKING for just 15 minutes can reduce chocolate cravings, researchers have discovered.

It is the first time a study has shown that exercise can reduce the desire for food.

Following three days of abstinence, researchers at Exeter university asked 25 regular chocolate eaters to take a brisk 15-minute walk or to rest.

They then engaged in tasks that would normally induce chocolate cravings, including a mental challenge and opening a chocolate bar.

After exercise, participants reported lower cravings than after a rest – and for at least 10 minutes following that. Professor Adrian Taylor, who carried out the study, said: “Our work consistently shows that brief bouts of physical activity reduce cigarette cravings.

“But this is the first study to link exercise to reduced chocolate cravings.

“This could be good news for people who struggle to manage their cravings for sugary snacks and want to lose weight.”

Previous research has suggested that 97 per cent of women and 68 per cent of men experience food cravings. The new research is published online in the journal Appetite.

Professor Taylor said: “While enjoying the occasional chocolate bar is fine, in time regular eating may lead to stronger cravings during stress and when chocolate is readily available.

“Recognising what causes us to eat high energy snacks, even if we have plans to not do so, can be helpful.

Well rich this doesn't work for me, I walk miles and have even been know to walk whilst eatting a choc bar:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
