No. That's why loads of people start running, get skinnier and healthier (myself included). What we mean is that goals and milestones for improvement in your running are the only way you will keep it up. Another progress report from the chickster.
Did my 'easy' 4m run last night. My selected route is actually 4.25 miles and the last time I did this route (last week) my time was 42:29. This week my time was 39:35 and my avg HR was identical. The only difference was that last week it was an early morning run , yesterday it was an evening run.
That could be the explanation, or else it could just be that I am getting fitter. :j
I *really* enjoyed it too. The trouble is, this morning I put on my best work suit (event this evening) and the trousers are falling off me. This is good in a 'changing shape' kind of way, (and I'm sure my OH won't be complaining) but not in a MSE way, because I'll have to buy new clothes if it continues. Some of my other trousers already have safety pins in them holding them up.

I've had to get a fair amount of new clothes since I started losing the lbs (losing the £s in the process). I have a pair of shorts and a pair of jeans that fall down if I don't wear a belt. I don't rate my sewing ability TBH and I need new clothes anyway as most of my wardrobe* is pretty tatty. So I'm asking for new clothes/vouchers for Christmas and my birthday, which is in January.

Weds12/11 10K (Abandoned after 2 miles - Virus?)
Thurs13/11 10K 55:37 (Pulse 96)
Okay, it is quite clear that it was indeed a virus attacking the system yesterday since the mild symptons have appeared today.
Because the white blood cells were given an evening off from their 'Bob The Builder' duties last night they obviously relished getting stuck into a feast of juicy virus. The last bits of it are still lurking but it pretty much got obliterated overnight.
So, looking at the time and pulse combination there isn't a lot wrong and I love the time - 55:37 is exactly my 10 mile PB.
By pursuing yesterday's run would probably have resulted in losing at least today and tomorrow and maybe a bit longer.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Well, had a great run at lunch, actually...wasn't feeling overly up for it when setting out, especially as it was peeing down...but I stuck at it, kept an eye on my watch and made it round the 10k in....49:32...more than a minute faster than my previous best in training and only 3 secs off my 10k race time...Didn't feel like I'd pushed too hard either, I sprinted the last .4 miles, so was panting like anything at the end, but was within myself most of the way round. Very pleasing.
Also, there are sure signs I'm getting fitter. I remember the first time I ran at work, (only a couple of months ago) it was something like 90 minutes before I'd cooled down/stopped sweating enough to shower and get back to my desk. Today it was as long as it takes to walk back (.1 miles) take my shoes off and have a can of juice...My recovery really is getting heaps better.0 -
Idio you are almost scarily exactly how I pictured you!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Nice one Idio.
The time is one thing, but it is always said that true fitness is measured by the speed of recovery so you're winning on both counts.
You've got to be thinking in terms of 45 minute race time now?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
