Seems like everyone is making progress :T :T :T
I have just arranged with P to go for a 4 miler this evening - will be good to blow the cobwebs away after a stressful day at my desk!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi Hypno - let us know how it goes on your run with P!
Okay so I'm being brave and am posting my target time and letting you all know my plans for next year (and why I cant do Leeds in june!). Rich can you update the racing plans where ever they are?
Phew (deep breaths):
FLM 09 - target time 3.30
Venice Mara (Oct 09) - target time 3.15
This should qualify me for FLM 2010 without having to raise sponsorship - um Rich am I right in thinking I would run in the elite womens then??
So now you can see why I've been putting in so many miles and worrying so much about times etc...Leeds may or may not be on depending on what my training plan between the two marathons in 09 looks like!0 -

This is the criteria, so in short, the answer is YES!:
Championships
The championship qualifying standards for a full marathon are sub 2:45 for men and sub 3:15 for women, for a half marathon the qualifying standards are sub 1:15 for men and sub 1:30 for women.
The qualifying time must have been achieved since 1st January 2007.
If you are a UK runner and have a Championship Qualifying Performance from 2007 or 2008, please send proof of your performance (either a photocopied race certificate or a newspaper results clipping) and proof of ID (a photocopy of your passport, photographic driving license or birth certificate) to:

OMG that is scary!
But surely that wouldnt mean lining up with all the 'proper' professional runners though - the 2.24ers must have a seperate start from the 3.15sers surely??0 -

Erm, no I don't think so!
The AAA Championship start goes with the Elite about 30mins before the rest - in other words you get a clear run, ideal.
And lets not underestimate this aim - this is an attempt to go from a complete non-runner in June 2008 to the Elite start of The London Marathon in April 2010.
You deserve a lot of respect for setting the bar so high and giving it a go!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Eeeek - do I need to get a proper coach i.e. a real live one?? The last thing I want is to be the slowest elite runner there :rotfl:
Also do I need to think about weights and other things as well as running training now??
Have I done my usual thing of setting the bar too high I wonder...:o0 -
Bloody Hell Becky  :T :j Good luck to you girl!!!
Back to my plodding......can you add me to the list for the Wymondham 10k on New Year's day, together with the Roger Wing Memorial 10k on Good Friday. Also the Wymondham 20 on (I think) the 2nd March (or whatever that Sunday is!).....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Can you put me down for Llandudno Nick Beer 10km on 8th Feb 2009
