re the garmin - I wouldn't be getting one if it wasn't my birthday present from everyone. There is no way I would spend that much money on myself when I still have over £40k of debt to plough through!

But I am quite looking forward to it :o

    Late update from me.

I did my interval session tonight. 1m w/u, 4 x 800m, 1m c/d. Average time for 800m was 4:12 with fastest being 4:07 (Avg HR = 161) The thing is, I am a little concerned at the high heart rate.

If my max HR = (220-age) then my max HR should be 179. The exertion of the interval at 161 avg HR is nearly 90% of my max HR. Having said that, I was pushing myself hard and I don't think I could have gone much faster for any length of time. Should I be worried? Am I really unfit or am I just not used to the new information?

I will post my resting HR tomorrow when I have measured it.

To be honest, that all adds up - you must have pushed very hard in comparison to last week. To be comparable today's would have averaged 4-20 so you've found some deeper reserves from somewhere.

Don't be at all concerned about the HR if you recover okay. I can get up to 160-170 from a resting pulse of 40, so it is by no means unusual.

So well done - another really good session under your belt!

Thanks Rich for that reassurance. When I checked my HR I thought I was about to pop! I'll keep on monitoring it and as I get used to it I'm sure I'll start to understand more about it in relation to the effort I feel I am putting in.

Rich I know you're lazy but 40!!! Are you comatose most of the time?? ;)

Tried my best for my fartlek today, but it wasnt wholly successful - thighs still too sore from Sunday which I think proves the effort I put in to get under 2 hours. Ah well tomorrow is another run...and I finished the 4 miles at least even though my legs were practically crying in anguish!

That's some good running Chick by the way!

Well done Becky, still a good run and you should see improvement from the effort you put in yesterday in due course, as your muscles repair and become stronger.

Measured RHR this morning - (56) I will continue to measure RHR periodically and check (hope) for improvements.
