hey people... didn't go running again today altho it was a glorious day here, sun and clear blue skies if a little chilly. Still full of cough n cold so really couldn't run although it was a perfect day for it.
I was inspired by Squizzers 6 miles so...
We took the dogs in mums car, to a nearby woodland park then once we had walked about there and had our "walk", mum took erin and the dogs home in her car and i walked the 2.5 miles home in peace.... felt great just to be out and doing something on such a lovely afternoon...
kept telling myself that coach Rich says walking is good, so walk i did!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Well done Becky! A fantastic achievement. You just know there is no hope for you when you say "I know I can do better...." You are well and truly bitten by the running bug!
Today I treated myself to another running gadget - a heart rate monitor. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have sussed out how to use it so I will do my next interval session wearing it. I hope it will give me a good indication of my fitness improvements.
I'll let you know tomorrow.

You mean people still live without garmins? I just can't imagine it
Anyway, I went out for another 10k today, was a little disappointed. Tried really hard to lay down a decent time (this blasted Roddy keeps catching me up!), but came up short of my 50minute target (50:58) - still a little faster than before, but I was absolutely *charging* home the last mile or so (a 7:18 5-6 and a 6:20avg 6-6.2), so was hoping for better. Was very conscious of slowing myself down again though - was managing my pace around the 8:30 mark for the first 5, so probably left myself a bit too much to do at the end - will try again tomorrow, but try a steady 8 all the way round, I think.
(the good news is, I sweated off half a stone through trying so hard...if I only put 6lbs back on, I'm a winner)
And, in the spirit of Rich's earlier post, here's a few times of mine for comparison:
02/11: 50:58
12/10: 54:29
(2 weeks ill here)
22/09: 49:29 (race)
13/09: 55:30
13/08: 56:20
Glad to see the trend's in the right direction, anyway0 -
Ooh, another great avatar Sallyx :T and some great milage being reported over the weekend.
I am getting a garmin 405 for my birthday at the weekendEveryone is chipping in, mum, MIL, OH etc so I will get one useful present rather than a few smaller not so useful presents
I will be testing it out on Sunday (won't be allowed to use it before then!)
No running for me today - but will be out again tomorrow. Have a good day everyone xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning all.
Did a run yesterday. 5.5K at a pace of 4:57 (bang on 8 min miles I think). I thought I felt my knee twitching a bit at that point, so stopped (which is a shame). Does pace have an effect on joints, Rich? I did my first 2Ks at a pace of 4:20 before settling down a bit.
Anyone know a good place to get the sorekneeandankle insoles? I have seen the light and it really can't do any harm to get them!
Hope to be back to my usual 7K "almost daily" runs soon once I can actually get settled back down to it.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Morning all,
Did a 5.5 mile run yesterday. Not sure of the time though due to an error in not setting watch. Est. it took 50 mins and had a bad chest.
According to ROD's training plan for me I shouldhave done 10miles running and 18 miles walking last week. I did 9.5 miles running and 22.4 miles walking so pretty much on track with that.
Have a good week all.Total Debt now £22,525.07 Start Debt £32,732.36
