The weather is so bad here that OH has we make our kids earn their money themselves by putting up with all weathers - so it MUST be bad for him to be offered a lift!

So......that begs the question......to run or not to run? I have done 4 days this week, so could have today as a rest day, and run tomorrow evening. Or I could go for a run round the block (3 miles) and prove to myself that I am indeed dedicated to the cause!

How far have you done on those 4 runs hypno? Is this your first or 2nd week back into the running properly?

Has it all been running and what are you planned runs this week? I personally would say have a rest day and then plan in some more slightly longer runs for next week or go for a 3-5 mile walk today

They have all been runs this week. I am hoping to go out Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday next week, and am hoping to make the 3.8 miles my "standard run" with a 5 miles on Friday and hoping to plod slowly round a slightly longer route on Saturday, say 6 miles or so.

If you're running again tomorrow I would have a rest day. You have covered 15+ miles this week running so for a 2nd week I would say that its a good steady start. Even if I had run today I would have only covered 22 miles and I am on week 4 of my LM plan but have been running constantly since April. Have you got a training plan for the LM?

A rest day would not be too much of a hardship, I have to say. I am "starting from scratch" so to speak, having not done anything other than a couple of half hearted attempts at going round the block, for many years. I have an 18 week training plan from realbuzz which would start in December, so it is really a case of getting into the routine of running again, and giving myself the conviction that I CAN do this - and I reckon that if I can do a steady 3 or 5 miles without too much stress by the time I start my proper schedule, I will be in with a reasonable chance. At the moment my runs are 11-12 min miles which is ok to start off, but I would like to be doing either longer 11 min mile runs, or shorter 10 min mile runs by the time I start training "proper".

Sounds like a good plan if you ask me...I shall be having a day off as I just walked to the kitchen and my knee hurt. Also my neck is killing still so am wondering if its a running injury (did get painful when I ran on friday).
Pouring with rain today but will have to get DD out to get some fresh air at some point. Oh or maybe swimming :)

Swimming would be good for the knee I reckon - the water will give it the extra support.

My neck/shoulder is killing too, but strangely it doesn't hurt so much when I run, but sitting or laying down is very very painful! Mine is an old whiplash injury though, so I know where it originates.
