I've been thinking - I would really like to do the Leeds 'Run for All', but it's 10k and it's in June - I'm feeling fairly confident with 5k now, and 4 miles (not quite sure what that is in kilometres - 6 and a bit?) is bearable but challenging - is it realistic to be able to run 10k by spring, bearing in mind I can probably only run 2 or 3 times a week?
Well I'm no ROD, but it sounds well doable to me...0 -
Snags - I can only run every other day so that dh can run too, I think you'll have plenty of time to build up to the 10km in June. I did the first Run for All in 2007 and it was fantastic, I might see if we can do it next year too.0

From what you have been doing, you will do it very easily. In fact you could do it comfortably in 6 weeks or so. Just increase the length of your longest runs by about 10% per week. I have just done 5 miles. Thanks largely to Panier kicking my backside on Facebook. We all need it from time to time. Just pleased that I have so many running friends to keep me in line“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0

Hi everyone
I thought I'd stop by and report on my running this weekend.
Despite my plans last week, I didn't actually do anything until Saturday
I ride my bike to work a few days a week, which is about 10mile round trip. I'd left it at work from Wednesday as I was socialising Wednesday and Thursday and day off on Friday. I then decided that it would be a good idea to run to work via Battersea Park, along the Embankment to London Bridge (about 6 miles) then cycle back (5 miles).
It was a good plan and I'd cycled home very slowly so the legs weren't too bad. I relaxed for the rest of the day as I knew I'd be running 18 miles on Sunday.
Sunday morning came and I dawdled a bit so didn't actually leave home til about 11am, did a 30 min warmup, so started my mileage at 11.30. It was supposed to be a slow run taking 3hrs 15 mins. On reflection it probably wasn't a good idea to run/cycle on the Saturday as I ended up walking the final mile my legs were that tired. Still I was 3.21mins over my allowed time so I didn't feel that bad.
Got to do another 18 miles this Sunday but I won't be doing any running on the Saturday that's for sure and any cycling will be very local - 3 miles tops.
Becky, I was attempting to get to Richmond Park on the Sunday but somehow ended up at Barnes Common :rotfl: . It was real roundabout route - Clapham Common, Battersea Park over Battersea Bridge, past Wandsworth Bridge over Putney Bridge to Barnes Common - but it was good as the sun was out and I ran through places I'd never have thought of going through normally. Must avoid Putney High Street though. Too many people
I'm going to plot the route to Richmond Park for this Sunday and ensure I get plenty of rest beforehand!
Happy running everyone. Seems like we are all making progress and that's good :TThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
