Good luck Chickadee, I hope it goes well. It's a fantastic cause that you are running for, and you've raised loads! :T"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Wow chickadee go you and your sponsorship!
Yeah I hope you get in too - then we can have a MSE Run Club meet in London - - after the race (maybe the day after eh!)...
Mine's a charity place - but I heard yesterday they have five places and 8 applicants
so not sure if I will get in now...boo hoo, but I'll still come down and cheer you lot on if I dont!!! 0 -
Thanks Snaggles & Becky! Yes it is a good cause, which is why we have really tried hard to raise as much money as possible. I got my place through the charity and they specified a minimum sponsorship of £400. I was quite worried that I might not make it so I'm delighted with the amount we have got.
All I have to do now is get round..........
I am starting to get twinges in all sorts of places now, but I'm sure they are all in my head!

Good luck to you both Sally & Becky. Whilst you are doing your 10mile runs I will be fighting my way around the Great North Run. I wish I could say I'm looking forward to it, but my training has been inconsistent (to say the least!), I don't feel ready for it and the weather here has been awful, hailstones, wind and rain so i hope it is better in the North East. The only consolation is that I have raised a lot of money for charity. Here I am on my justgiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/sueandjonathan (Not begging sponsorship. I just thought I would share my pic
)
I got my charity t-shirt yesterday, which is at least made from coolmax fabric, not cotton, but I have to say, is a bit on the tight side  . I'm still wondering whether to wear it or not because I haven't had a chance to run in it yet and I wouldn't want any uncomfortable chafing
.
Oh well, must get off and do some work.
Btw, I have entered the FLM as well. We should be finding out if we have got in this week shouldn't we? If I don't get in in the ballot I won't try to get a charity place. My friends and family are starting to cross the road when they see me coming because I have done two sponsored events this year.
Enjoy yourselves on Sunday!
x
Good luck Chickadee!
You'll definitely get around - I don't think those geordies will let you stop, they're an unforgiving bunch.
Its a funny course in that it seems to have quite sustained inclines, but at the same time they don't seem to take much out of you as proved by all the world records broken on it. Maybe the hills are an optical illusion?
I just hope the wind is blowing in the right direction for you on that last mile otherwise it can take an absolute eternity!

5/8 ths chance is pretty good tbh. Under normal circumstances you wouldn't expect more than 5 out of 8 people applying for charity places to make it to the start line. So, even if you were initially unlucky you may well still pick up a place when they start dropping out.
In March the charities get desperate trying to replace drop-outs but the reason they want applicants is the same reason why most people wouldn't take the places in March - Sponsorship!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Oh Just had a look at FLM site and Virgin Money are going to be the official sponsors from 2010. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it?
Now I wonder if we can come up with all its previous names?
From memory, some of them are:
Mars London Marathon
Gillette London Marathon
Nutrasweet London Marathon
ADT London Marathon
But now I'm struggling. Are there any more?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

OMG Not I certainly won't be telling him that!
I think he likes that pic too (taken by my 13-yo son) because he has his hat on and his follically-challenged head isn't glinting in the sunlight
. LOL I give him some stick but he is such a sweetheart and I love him loads.
We won't be running together. He is a turbo-boosted-nutty-runner. He says he isn't fit for the race but I know he will be finished in about 1h 30m. He'll have to wait around for about another hour before I show up!

As long as it was easy that sounds great.
You're certainly sounding happier than last Friday, which has probably been totally forgotten now - you see how that 34mins time just didn't matter? If it had been 38mins it wouldn't matter now - just a week later, so it certainly didn't make any difference to what will happen in April.
Now get in the shower - you stink!
