i have been feeling a bit down and un-runnerly this last couple of days, stemming from the fact that i didn't get a run in at the weekend... (Grrrrr! blooody runchum! and Grrrrr bloooddy me not having the get up and go to do it alone!)

Coupled with the fact that you lot are doing so well and making massive progress, talking about distances i can only dream of doing....

it all just made me feel a bit "meh" and sorry for myself....

I've been lurking like mad just haven't had anything productive to say really, so kept quiet...

Now listen here Mrs...don't you ever feel Meh about not doing "these distances" you are making fantastic progress and its all in the right direction.

wipe the slate clean and continue as you have done tonight :T  :j .
Hey and by the way I haven't been out running since last wednesday so your doing better than me ;)

Thanks so much for posting that. I've been feeling like my 10 minutes is a bit laughable :o so that gives me a bit of hope at least.

I need to try and find more opportunities for getting out and running without the pram I think. Pushing it uphill whilst running really isn't easy! :o Especially when I've usually got an 8 year old clinging on to the handles too, so I'm having to drag him along with with me! :rotfl:

I have discovered a new tactic today though - every time he runs the school run with me, he earns 30 minutes on his DS. :D

Its defininately achievable but yes without the pram might be easier :p Amazing what a bit of bribery/tactic does for a child...I did something similar today got DD to walk 2 miles to farm in return for a treat (bought her some goat food to give to them)

    Anyhow, i'm over it now!

I took Erin to Brownies tonight and decided to use the time effectively to go for a run... i did 2.75miles (according to car trip meter afterwards) in about 45mins... (including one walk after first 10 minutes as i was breathless and miserable but then i tld myself everyone struggles and subsequent miles are easier...only about 1.5-2minutes walking) and the rest was running...

i felt great actually, i took a road that i'd never ran on before in the next village and just followed my nose, i was listening to radio in 1 ear thru my phone (took it for safety as unknown quiet roads and didn't want to be stranded with broken ankle!)

I was going to go so far and turn back but just kept going as i could see the road led back round to village again.... when i got near the village boundary i was going to stop but i was so pumped and pleased that i kept going and ran down the lovely downhill back to the school where i started, which turns out to be an extra 0.75miles on my original stopping point......

I know they are only little numbers but they mean a lot to me.....

I thought i would share some scenery from my run, this made me appreciate how lucky i am to be able to run in such great scenery.....

oh and there were many of them, whaddya call them again, erm.... hillls!!!

So thats what you've been up to!

It looks like Yorkshire tbh (yep we have grass and ermm .....hills!) although there's usually a couple of burnt out cars as well - can't see any of those in your pic.

Now these little numbers of yours. 2.75 is within touching distance of 4 miles. This is the point where progress starts leaping on in chunks. Its hard work till you get there but then just takes off. You'd be surprised how you can go from where you are now to adding 2.75 on to the end of a run just cos you fancy a bit more.

So you have been runnerly after all!

yeah but you have a real legitatmate reason to not run, you have bird flu (copyright: snaggles)

until tonight it was last wednesday for me too, and i have runclub this wednesday and i knew if i didn't get out at least once in between runclubs, then i would struggle, as i found last weeks 3miler hard going....

To be honest i would have been able to keep going tonight for longer but i kinda ran outta road and light... that's a good thing isn't it....

I need to remember that i am <ahem... 16 stone> so this level is an achievement in itself....

Just a couple of quick notes:

Snaggles, stick with it - you really will make progress...I couldn't run a mile 4 months ago, it gets a lot easier *fast* in my experience...

and Maz, absolutely WELL DONE on your run...as rich says, it's getting really close to the magic 4 mile mark and what anyone would consider "real runner" distances, so PLEASE don't get down about it...Lord knows I know plenty of "strapping young lads" that wouldn't be able to run anything like 2.75miles - this is no small achievement...On the subject, remember, nobody's achievements on here are any better than yours - as long as you're starting to find things easier and more enjoyable, which certainly seems to be the case, you really are coming along in leaps and bounds and should be *so proud* of yourself.

(also, on a practical note...using mapmyrun.com rather than driving the car along the route will be more accurate and also save a little petrol - we are all DFWs afterall :D)

Thanks very much Idio - just feeling generally a bit fed up today for some reason, but I'm sure I'll be okay again tomorrow.
