I think a charity place would be the only way to get into NY though...I'll check with NY friend in Jan - I'm sure he got in via the 9 qualifying races, but obviously that wouldn't be possible for me.

Ur no way - I am not that mad!

Amsterdam sounds good - I like it there too, Nemo is the best museum ever! Plus no long flight nor jet lag all good :T. I'll have a think about that - and go google the entry requirements...

There shouldn't be any entry requirements except being willing to pay 60 euros entry fee (although you do get a shirt of some kind for that).

You won't find details for next year yet because this year's race is a few days away.

It is a good race though - I haven't done it, but I've watched it and its similar to Brussels. Very flat and crowds in the city but don't expect London crowds all the way round - that happens nowhere else but London.

  • hello

could any of you people help me out with some recovery tips,

i did the middlesbrough 10k yesterday, managed to complete it in 1hr13 but today my legs are aching and stiff, any tips would be a graet help

    thanks

    First of all, well done!

The bad news is - if you're stiff today you're going to be very, very stiff tomorrow. So be careful.

You have got a lot of muscle tear and it needs to repair. This will take the next 4-5 days or so. In the meantime light walking will promote blood flow without doing further damage and will help speed up the recovery.

If you're lucky enough to have someone on hand who can carry out some therapeutic massage that would also help but all massage should be in the direction TOWARDS the heart. This helps release waste products into the blood stream.

Apart from that just be patient and don't run until everything feels strong again.

  • Evening all.. did 2.5 miles tonight, roughly half an hour (forgot to check time when I left), felt quite hard work, think I might be a bit under the weather, not sure if it's lack of sleep or the start of the bug that's going around

That sounds like a back up plan!

I did have Berlin or The Mablethorpe Marathon lined up. Now is it just me or was it a fair asumption to assume that the Mablethorpe race was a Marathon? Hmm, well it aint, its a half! So it looks like Berlin.

Now I think they need to find an organiser who can distinguish between a half and a full marathon. How Bizarre.

Bad news..think I have flu, it just gets worse I tell you
