Morning Idio
Thats a great time to be running...thats my aspiration that one day I maybe able to run an 8 min mile! Sure on the day with all the adrenaline pumping you will be able to maintain that pace.
Not sure I will be running this weekend as I still have a horrendous sore throat and am doing as im told (by Rich!). If I feel better I would love to do an 8 mile run at the weekend though.
Good Luck for your race if you don't manage to get back on here before then
Id be happy just to be able to run a mile!! Well done to you both!!:T
Maz - wow those swimming lessons sound a bit hardcore! I'm guessing your not a novice swimmer doing all that! Well done with the handstands in water!!!!:j0 -
Morning all,
Well, I can't nominate myself as I will be v. busy until late October. I like the idea of a club website. I think it should include:
Updates of meets and events that members are running in
Blogs (for whoever wants one)
Affiliate links to make some dough for the club
Photo gallery for members to post on.
Links to useful sites.
We should also include lots of links back to this site to give a nod to our "roots"! I'm happy to set this site up, I've done similar sites before. I've even done some (small) ecommerce sites, but don't think we'll be selling stuff except maybe club vests at this stage!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Wowsers, I go away for a day and look what happens!! Well done to everyone, Maz the swimming sounds amazing and Sally I hope that blasted sore throat goes away, so frustrating being ill!
Club is also coming on nicely - good one Sally and ROD :T
As a legal bod, I would be more than happy to do a role that complements that. Not sure what it would be.. 'general pain the !!!!' is normally about right.
On a more lol note, got asked last night if I would like to start teaching pole dancing as instructors don't really want to cover my area and are looking to 'recruit' new instructors. Worryingly you don't need to be qualified to teach pole, but they insist on Level 2 fitness instructor (which is good, shows they are 'proper'). Anyhow going to start my training asap. Then maybe I could have the committee role of official 'entertainer' lmao!:p

Did a 3.44 mile run yesterday, the last one before the 10k...managed it in 8:01 minute mile average, which I was chuffed to bits with (and that included stopping to give someone directions) - I wasn't *completely* shot by the end of it, either...so I think a good tail wind on the way back Sunday and I might be able to hold something like that pace the whole way, which would be awesome.
What's everyone's running plans for the weekend?
A good tempo run to get the confidence levels up and then rest to the race - just about an ideal build up.
If that had been absolutely 'eyeballs out' ie your maximum 5k pace you could still just about count on 8:20 miling for the 10k on Sunday. That would give you 51-40, but considering you were comfortable in your 3.44 run you have got a decent chance of dipping under that 50 min mark on Sunday.
Good luck.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Wow, another web person - good stuff. Instead of having a vote for this role it may be as well for you and Angela to work on it together (if practical to do so). But certainly a club website will help with any funding bid. However, nobody expects small clubs to be paying for professional websites so it really can be quite basic.
You seem to have summed the contents quite nicely!
PS A ban on short selling!!! Hehehe (Thats p**ssed a few people off no doubt!)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I see Angela has already volunteered to do the web page. I'm more than happy to let her get on with that! I'm happy to help if required though.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0

Like I said, am very busy at the mo, so am happy to sit back and offer advice/help if required.
RE: short selling, yeah, it's a bit late in the day though! Besides, people can still "short" using financial spread betting (not technically trading in stocks) and other methods to get around this.
Angela,
Let me know if you want any input on the site. There are loads of open source packages for blogs, photo galleries etc. though, so it needn't be a big job!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0
