Hi guys. Had a good game of footie yesterday, won 10-4 (5 a side!) and got on the score sheet again. No run this morning, went to the dentist instead. Was supposed to be a filling and has now turned into a root filling and they might stick a crown on it for good measure (have to go back tomorrow). My face is nicely numb, so much so that I dribbled my drink onto my desk through lack of control. Got a few weird looks, I can tell you!

Welcome to the new members and good to see people keeping it up. BTW, I'm almost certainly going to do the Lydd half mara on March 8th now. I'm just waiting on a few people who may or may not prefer to do the one in Fleet the following weekend.

Dribbling at the footy, dribbling on your desk..... you'll be on a one-way trip to the nursing home if you carry on like this! :rotfl:

I'll pencil in the Lydd 1/2 (subject to change of course)

Could be worse... could be dribbling down [strike]your leg[/strike]... no i won't say it! wouldn't want to be the one to lower the tone (again, yes i know!)

not like me to shy away from matters lavatorial!!!

I used to be quite good at the footie, but have had many years away from it. I'm improving fast though, it helps that I still have a football "mind"! It should be noted that we are in the third division (out of 6) in out local 5-a-side league so it's not exactly premiership standard!

As for the dribbling, yes there are certainly worse places to be dribbling from! I'm just glad I don't have any meetings today. They'd look something like this:

    Hi Snaggles,

Wasnt sure if someone has already come back to you, but the Race for Life generally start allowing sign ups in Feb - well you can register your interest then, and once the site is live they email you so you can sign up.

Cancer Research are also doing 10k runs - I'm doing one next Sunday at Hampton Court. I am terrified as I havent run that far before, and training alone is completely knackering me out. But as you mentioned, it is a great sense of acheivement to run for something that matters to you.

Good luck everyone else racing this month!

    Hi there,

Can I join in? I like running and am a club member but because I am busy I find it difficult to get to training nights so I am out of the loop, so to speak.

I used to do a lot of running but I kind of fell by the running wayside a few years ago and I am trying to keep up my motivation. I run on a Thursday evening (well, I have for the last couple of weeks....) with a ladies group as well as on my own and on the treadmill at the gym. My most imminent goal is the Great North Run, which I entered to give me some motivation. (It has! ) I have run about 8.5 miles so far (in 90 mins) and it hurt a bit but I think I can get round the GNR route with all of the excitement of the day and the encouragement of the other runners.

I read this thread quite a bit and if you don't mind, I'd like to join in.

Wow, that was quick! Thanks for such a swift welcome LOM.

As it is Thursday running is obviously on my mind. I sometimes lose motivation because I have to plan my runs so well. For example, tonight I will get home from work at about 5.30pm-ish, maybe a little later. My DS (13) will be waiting for his tea, so I have taken meat out of the freezer and will throw a jar of ragu in with it and boil the pasta in a pan so he can eat at a reasonable hour. I will be out of the house at about 6.45pm to meet up with the ladies to run. I can either run for 60 or 90 mins as that is the time each group runs for. My OH works away during the week, so DS is on his own during this time, but he is a sensible lad.

I'm not moaning, but it does make my training more of an effort and I can't just go out 'on spec'. Anybody else have to plan their runs?
