Morning all...
Well, I actually missed an exercice session last night for the first time in weeks - was supposed to be swimming, but decided I really ought to try and restore connectivity to the NAS drive at home instead. (plus I was tired and my eye was a bit weird)...Still, trying quite a brisk run at lunch as the final prep before the 10k, so hope that goes well...would like to go into sunday feeling fit/confident rather than unfit/unsure...Guess we'll find out0 -
Do you know - it is a nice morning, I think I will go for a run.
Saw your message on facebook P. Thanks so much. I have posted a reply there“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -

Brisk, but not hard, sounds good. Are you still thinking about 55min for Sunday, with maybe a bit quicker with a following wind?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)

yeah, I think so...my PB's 55:30 and that's with a couple of hills (believe it or not, it's going down the hills that slows me down, not up them) - the Swansea routes more or less flat, so hope between that and the "lift" of the big event, I should be able to get down toward the low 50s...I know whenever I run I always hold back "you're just training...there's no point killing yourself..." will be interesting when it's "it's race day! give it all you've got! run til your eyes bleed!" instead0 -

Nah, have quite long legs - think that's the problem...if I do a good wide stride going down a steep hill, the drop each step time can be quite high and it really kills my knees - shortening my stride means there's less fall and less impact on my knees..I know it sounds dumb, but it's really made my runs more comfortable...0 -

That doesn't explain it. I have the same problem with short legs!!
Its a bit of a sod really because I'm strong on uphills relative to other runners and weak on downhills. That means in head to head battles strategically I have to attack at the hardest, lung-busting, part of the uphill because that is where I'm most likely to get away. My mind often says no to this tactic for some reason.
I do so wish I had long legs and could attack on the downhills. Ah well...........:rolleyes:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
