I notice you mentioned the London Marathon next year.
To be fair, that is a wee bit soon from the current starting point. Its perfectly possible to get fit enough to get round but to do it in a way which will leave you glowing with pride at the end I'd say not.
London is a fantastic event as anyone who has done it will tell you, but you want to remember it for feeling like you're running on a cushion of air down the Mall to the finish rather than struggling in pain for the last 8 miles.
Thanks again RichOneday. You are right and I am a little over optimistic in my thoughts. I have however already applied to be considered in the ballot, last year I was unsuccessful, and if given a place will take it assuming my fitness and joints are up to it.
However, I would not want to deprive somebody else if I felt I was not up to it and agree about finishing the race with a spring in my step.
If I am honest though, I have never really enjoyed running and am more a person who enjoys the satisfaction of what I have achieved post event.
But, it would be lovely to get to a point where I did enjoy running as much as I do football, for example. I remember all too well the times when I was very fit and ran back to the changing rooms after a 90 minute midfield battle. I would compare that feeling to your mention of running down the mail on a cushion of air.0 -

There's something like a 1 in 3 chance in the ballot and then a bit of a second chance in the secondary ballot if you have 'bequeathed your entry fee'.
If you do get a place you don't have to worry about depriving someone else of a place. They build in a 10% drop-out rate into the figures so places don't get reallocated when people withdraw.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks for the positives vibes sally... it is the plan to get to run 3 miles constant in the next 4 weeks, which is dropping the 3 min walk... after that the group moves up a level... to 4 miles run i think.... och who knows! will go with the flow.... won't let it hold me back !I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
