Even in Scotland you cant go up for ever!

So they looked after you anyway and you're still keen. Thats the main thing.

What a find this is! I went out for my first jog in a year today and found i'm super unfit compared to how I was.

I'm so happy to find this thread as I need the motivation of the team effort.
I'll have some cheese please, bob.

Welcome to the thread mizzbiz. It's a great place to be if you need motivation as there's a great team to give it. God luck in getting fit again.

A great, brisker than ever walk for me today and finished off with a fairly good run too so I'm quite chuffed with myself and determined to improve with time and patience.

    Hello Runners
Need to get back into he running mode having not done anything for about a year now.

My problem is that I have a very unstable knee which over the last year has got worse.
The problem really started 18 months back when attempting a high catch at cricket I unintentionally somersaulted backwards and was in agony on landing as my knee felt like the pivot joint at the nack of the knee popped out, ie, the bones very temporarily no longer were joined.
Not sure this is what happened but that is how it definitely felt. I have torn plenty of knee ligaments and it definitely was not that.

So move on 18 months, and anytime in the previous 6 months, the original injury/feeling no longer applies but now any type of running means that I get constant shooting nerve type pains from my calf into the knee and from slightly above the knee, but all at the rear.
Has anybody experienced this, what is it, cany anything be done?

Prior to 2 years ago, whilst very fit, I did not really just run, played a lot of sport though.
Coming off holiday 2 years back, just started pounding the streets and found within one month had run all distances up to 18 miles.
For the following year did lots of long distance stuff and always run 14 miles twice a week at about 7mph.

Want to run the London Marathon this year as a self present for my 40th and desparately need to train again.
Just this knee problem. Any ideas anybody?

    Thanks

Edited to add that as I lay here unable to sleep the same calf aches into the knee. Not in a sciatica way as I know all about this on the other leg.
Thinking about it, mentioning at least 3 types of injury, maybe I should give in gracefully.

Morning Uberalles and welcome hon!!! all the others will be aback in the morning so check in tomorrow and i'm sure they will all have fab advice for you. my advice would be to start off exercising as low impact as possible. swimming/cycling and get a tgrainer int he gym to show you exercises to strengthen your legs and joints as much as possible. once you've built up run with a knee support so it can't wobble again but don't run until you are sure your knee won't collapse on you again. I'm in the same boat and just building up again so i know its frustrating but it sounds like a nasty injury you had there. I have plenty of experience of you cricketing types and how often you get injured.... tsk!!! :D

CnoelJ I've sent you a message on facebook hon. xx

    Hiya Uberalles,

Welcome to the thread, you'll get plenty of help to get fit again here. Rich is probably the best person to ask

I injured my knee years ago and a very rude Dr told me I'd end up in a wheel chair by the time I was 40, because she said, I wouldn't have damaged my knee SO badly, if I hadn't been SO fat (cow) Well I am SO NOT in that there wheelchair and every birthday give a cheer of glee:j :T

I'm not fit like you and never have been, but I'm stubborn so will def do a marathon, probably walking but I will do it even if I have to crawl it lol.

So join in the mad house and have fun, but of course we are serious about the running as well:D :D
