  • I've been trying to do the london for yrs and something always gets in the way and the charity says this is my last chance. So I was determined, lost 3st started walk/:rotfl:run training and told everyone.
My son has been getting married for 3yrs but keeps putting it off re lack of finances so he rang me monday to say it's all booked and paid for and it's on April 26th, 1st I shouted then I cried then I said they'd have to change it as I know london wont and eventually I calmed down and agreed to go to the wedding, which of course I don't want to miss, but I don't think he has any idea how devistated I am about all this:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: I jumped out of a plane and I can't b****y fly, went scuba diving and can't swim and climbed the mountains, great wall in China for 6day, 40miles and I'm not a mountainer, so why can't I do the B****y London:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: just couse I can't b*****y run and have to go to a wedding:mad::mad::mad:

Oh no, I'm really sorry to hear that. Can you do it for another charity? I know you may have one close to your heart, but there are plenty of worthy causes and you could do something else for your charity? Or is it the London marathon people that say you can't do it if you miss it again?

It seems quite tight to me, it's not like they have any problem filling the positions if someone drops out.

OMG I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

That is one of the funniest posts ever and yet its not funny!

Have you tried asking Dave Bedford whether he might move it for you? No point in assuming after all! (I told you I was good at straw clutching).

Tbh I think you've been pincered. Lets see if we can get this club set up and grab a couple of guaranteed places for 2010 - that should improve chances a bit.

You could work on convincing the 'soon to be unadopted' son that his finances might still be a little too stretched in April, and that autumn weddings are so cool these days, or some other such like nonsense. :p

    I feel for you!!!

Both, the london m only let you take it over once and then you have to wait and try another year and they already had said no for 2009 but the charity stepped in as I raise money for them, waiting to do the Inca Trail for them

In other words, you can do it in future, but you're at the back of the queue? Well, I'll nominate you as our club member to take up one of our marathon places if we get it set up...

Can't believe your son booked and paid in advance. I'm getting married in 3 weeks and I paid half last week and will pay the rest next week. I'd have thought the venue would agree to move the date if he talked to them.
