Yep Sally (and Maz), I know where you're coming from - I'll be careful, promise! I can't always stick to the same days every week for runs though so it'll have to be a bit flexible depending on what I'm doing.
That after-run buzz is a bit addictive though isn't it? (and no I don't mean the naughty endorphin thing you were all on about the other week, I didn't feel like that! :rotfl:)Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
What do you think I should do this w/end Rich? Long run to start covering half marathon (or near that) distance, or fast and intense? Given that this will be my first "training" run since the 10K. Give me guidance, O deep heat Vaseline guru.
Are you talking to me or Ron Jeremy? :rotfl:
Right, you may have noticed that I've pencilled you in for a 1/2 marathon for Jan/Feb - that seemed to be something like what you were suggesting.
Given that that is now the next main focus, you need to be working on increasing the size and number of your mitochondria. Mito-what??? Exactly! I'll explain later, but Google it for now.
To do this you need steady-state runs of 4+ miles at 60-70% maximum oxygen uptake. Roughly speaking that means a pulse range of 120-140 if you've got one of those new fangled whizz bang wollop bits of kit for your wrist!
Don't worry about going too far for now, theres plenty of time to build the long runs up - 16 miles should do for now!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi Guys,
Sorry been very busy the last few days at work so haven't been able to partake of the usual banter...
No running today as I heard last night that my very best friend in the world got knocked off his bike last night and has broken his collarbone...I'm not in the same city as him and he lives alone so I'm worried sick about him....couldn't face the run today as you can imagine!
Luckily he's okay and I'm going up at the weekend - everyone else can run instead for me while I'm playing nurse!!!0 -

as ready as i'll ever be.... spoke to runchum about it last night as the plan was for us to go out tonight together, so i asked her to come along.... I'm not sure how keen she is, but it's not dependent on her, i can do it alone, i just didn't want to leave her out....
It's only £1.50 per week and you can join as many of their runs in a week, (mon - sat) although i expect i will only do one with them, one with runchum on sunday am will do me fine (plus 2 swims!)
Surely the weight will start to come off soon....... i am feeling a difference and think i have lost almost a stone... but it is very slow... i eat fairly well, but i know i could do better... however i just hoped excercise alone would create a deficit and weight would come off quicker...
however slow weight loss is better, isn't it....?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

So you're telling us that the last few days has been you being quiet? Gawd help us!
He sounds quite lucky if hes 'only' broken his collar bone, so he should be fine.
Ah well, it looks like someone else is more in need of your attention than us. We'll still be here when you need someone to annoy though I suspect!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
