i don't mind him... i don't really understand tennis.... i'm too working class for tennis!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0

i'm watching the tennis....... i don't understand it.... the scoring is too complex........but the hitting looks good!!
ooooh i knew i had news!! sorbosortsyourfeetout insoles arrived today ~(not with royal mail as post was in when i went to work, must've been couriered)... so my extensive 2 mile run was aided with the doubleshock of the insoles.......
they are nice...
i did notice a difference in the lack of tiredness in my legs... and i had absolutely no cankle pain at all.... i usually always have a slight pain up the outside of ankle/calf (i.e cankle) but nothing at all tonight......... (i used to have real pain before i changed to the NB trainers... i thought it was a wrong position and NB's had sorted it, but the sorbojobs have made more improvement........)
first impressions good....
but i did have to cut them... i ordered size 5/6, and shoes are a 6 so expected them to be fine if not a little small... but they were big... cutting them is trial and error...I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Good stuff, the real benefits are lack of injuries long term, but if you're getting immediate benefits from the lack of jarring etc all the better. Onwards and upwards.....
Mr Murray started slowly but is really getting back in to this now, although a dodgy knee may have a part to play. We will see!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

So, what do we reckon guys, should I sign up for the cardiff half marathon next month? I've only ever run 13 miles once and it's first thing in the morning (9am) so will be a challenge...but a waste of time/money if I can't finish...What to do!0

Well, its nearly 6 weeks away, so 5 weeks training and 1 tapering. A lot of work can be done in that time so it just depends what your current state of play is?
I suspect you feel up for it otherwise you wouldn't be considering it.
If you feel you could get to a steady 15 miler training run in 4 weeks time I'd say go for it, otherwise look for something later.
A reasonable build up to this would see successive 'Sunday runs', starting this coming Sunday, of 8 miles, 12miles, 10 miles, 15 miles, 6 miles, RACE.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi all!
10k - still dreading it, first run in two weeks last night DID NOT go well. In fact my legs are still aching, they havent done that in a while! Its amazing how much can be undone in one holiday...never mind!
Anyway, just wanted to post to say thanks for all your replies and encouragement - at the moment I am out and about a bit with work so will try and get back on when I can!0 -

Rich, can you explain why the build up is like this? A lot of runners do vary the distances a lot in training, but I don't know why. I took the attitude "I'm running 10k, so I'll do training runs of 10k or just over" Is it to do with speed work?Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
morning all......
oh poor sally... sting sounds sore, but if there is one saving grace it's that it is not on your foot or anywhere directly impairing your running.... get some antihistamine tabs and see if they take the edge off....
Well done on getting out there pjc - how far did you manage?
Hey hypno! long time no see on this thread!
Idiophreak.. what distance are you normally running regularly...? Does upping it to 13 miles seem doable in 5-6 weeks?RichOneday wrote: »
