In which case, in excess of 3 per day should definately secure that magic 20 lb. If I could lose that, I'd be back to a size 16 , but 0 will never be me! :p Thank goodness!

This is sounding better and better. Thanks again Rich, I'm so thrilled with all the advice. :D

Hiya Sue, I've been doing 2miles on a regular basis as my running is rubbish and I've given up. Not only did it help with weight loss of 3st but is helping to maintain it.
2miles in 40mins, not that fast up to the peeps on here but good for me( the london m is going to take me ages and I may be at it the next day still:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )
Maz, wow with the swimming girl, I love the water and keep trying new things, such as snorkling scuba diving very hard for someone who can hardly swim. A few lessons last year means I can just about do breast stroke, and tread water, sort of, and flip myself upright.:j :j like you I was so proud of myself:D  baby steps eh.
There are great runners on here:A all I can say is wow wow wow:A
I bow to you all oh great ones

Hi all and thanks to you HWGA, thanks a lot for your input, it's so good to know what can be accomplished if we keep at things. I wasn't able to go out this morning so it had to be this afternoon, but it was so hot!! Still, I still managed 5 miles of uphill down dale fast walking on the country lanes here. It was SOOO hot, but I felt great whilst doing it and thrilled with myself afterwards, a bit like Maz after her swimming! :jI didn't do the arms swinging to raise the heart as I would have cooked and been shattered. Came back and after a couple of glasses of water and a little rest joined hubby in the garden. I did the grunting while he did the work!!! :rotfl:Luckily it came over cloudy and we achieved quite a bit to get it nice and tidy.

Snorkelling??? I wouldn't dare try that as I'd be sucking instead of blowing.... or is it the other way round! It must be wonderful to do it though and I'm glad you enjoy it so. It just goes to prove you don't have to be a great swimmer to enjoy the water.

Can't wait until tomorrow, showers or not. Enjoy the day and the running/walking everyone, I know I will.:D

Whooaaa 5 miles - Good on ya!

Did it feel good knowing it was as many calories as a 5 mile run?

That was a great post from Herewegoagain as evidence of what can be achieved.

    Evening All
I really really need to have a huge kick up the bottom. Since last race in July I seem to have lost all enthusiasm. My half marathon is in 2 weeks and when I signed up I had in my mind that I would be well prepared, the fittest I have ever been and slimmer...grrrrr
So here I am 2 weeks to go and ive put on a stone since last race, I can only just do 12 miles (then can hardly walk for 2 days after) and my eating is appauling. I need to really get my head together and get prepared.

Maz so pleased that the swimming is going well hun, everyone else keep at the running/jogging/walking. What I always have in my mind as im wobbling down the street and feeling self concious is that at least Im out doing exercise....more than can be said for the majority of people!
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
    Finally Debt Free...

    Sally,

Don't be so despondent. You might be able to only just do 12 miles, but I can only just do 2miles!! So I would guess you've got a lot more chance of completing a 1/2m than me.

You always feel a little guilty when you've taken a backward step but you are still extremely fit compared to most people. I'll be delighted when I can run 12 miles again, but its some way off!

So chin up you're doing just fine.

Following on from HWGA, Sally continue the end with

I think I can, I know I can, I'm sure I can ..... I darn well WILL and then ..zoom... out of the door.

Go on Sally, you've done so much so please don't let it stop now. It won't take long to get that stone off so long as you replace the extra food with water! Have a glassful before meals as well as as any time you feel peckish, it'll do you so much good and fill you up. You might feel it sloshing around in your tum when you run though!!! Have some fresh fruit at hand as well as carrot sticks.

    Good luck.

Oh dear Maz, I really do hope it's a short lived bug and you're soon back feeling much better again. Look after yourself.

It was fantastic Rich, so was the 6 miles today!!! It was still so very hot, but I just loved it and feel really exhilarated at what I've achieved in both days. Even saw our Doctor running towards me, he always runs in such an easy manner and was born to run I'm sure..... huh! Came home and when I'd cooled down, went for a 'ride' on the exercise bike, brilliant! Can't wait til I feel more confident to go swimming now!

A great post from HWGA indeed and I feel so enthusiastic now. Thanks for all your help Rich, just what I needed to put my all into it!

That mantra is ace HWGA! For me it morphs into a verse of

I think I can, I know I can, I'm sure I can now say after me:-
    I think I can, I know I can, I'm sure I can

    "i know i am i'm sure i am, i'm H - A - P - P - Y" - Remeber it from only when i laugh! Oooops i'm showing my age now!! Mind you i was only little!

Feeling better today but not 100%.... am going to pop on the scales today though and see if this bug has done me some good!!

    Every cloud eh.....?!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....
