Hope you get in as well, can't help but feel disappointed can you? What are realistic chances of getting in through charities?0
-
Can someone explain how getting in works? I'm a bit baffled. Do you apply direct to FLM & then if you dont get in appy for charity place, in which case you have to get sponsorship? Is that how it works? Sorry if I'm being dull!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

For the best chance it is best to apply to charities as a back up before the ballot results are announced.
If you haven't done that I strongly recommend that you contact charities now.
If you have been unsuccesful with the ballot you will have been sent a magazine with the rejection which will have adverts for charities which you should telephone.
If you have not got a magazine the quickest things is probably to google "London Marathon" "charities"
As I say get moving now and apply for several in order to keep your options open. If you have run for a particular charity before that goes in your favour or if you have some connection with a charity or the area it works in.
Best of luck.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
Hi Cnoelj, I applied for quite a few places a few months ago and two of them I have personal reasons for running for. I also have a "celebrity" friend who runs for a charity so if all else fails I will see if he can help me get a place somewhere. Fingers crossed I will get in somehow, think I have done all I can to get in.0

If you have already applied - I think you should be ok.
Contact the charities and tell them that you have been unsuccesful in the ballot and remind them that you have applied to them for a Gold Bond place. It might take a week or two because they will have to trawl through their applicants to find out who has a ballot place and who is still interest etc.
Remember you have a much better chance of getting in through the charity route.
Also remember that there are plenty of other marathons out there. Edinborough in May is a great one for example. They often tend to require less of a financial commitment as they will not have the same supply and demand issues.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -

I have just put the phone down to MacMillan Cancer Care.
I left a message on their answer machine a couple of hours ago to say that I had not got in through the ballot.
They phoned back to say I am in.
I am euphoric. I dont know why - I have experienced the pain of the event twice before :rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyone who has applied to charities contact them now because it looks as if places are being allocated quickly now that the ballot results are out. Different charities are likely to operate different policies, but the best advice is to contact them now.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
ooooh i've not had anything as yet??? If i get a ballot place can I transfer my golden bond to some one else? I.E BA? :-)
I am pretty sure the answer is no P. It would have been a lovely idea though“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
