    I've been Money Tipped!
If you have a few different stores nearby it's best to get the best of each...

we go Aldi on a monday(I take my granma anyway) and it's good to try something different although they have far too many nice chocs and cakes , no good for diet!
Big tesco delivery once a month for bulk stuffs, loo roll, juice, coffee, teabags, wash powder etc (use codes etc) and also get any bogofs and half prices!

The best way to do it is go along with whats cheapest at the time don't just stick to something because in the past it's been the cheapest!

Also tesco do a big 2 in 1 wash powder - used to be 3.34 wwent up to 3.58 then down again (on offer) to 3.36?

The above is the best possible guide to shopping. (ok i know quality comes in but assume the above refers to items of the same quality).
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

Isn't everything a bit cheap and nasty at aldi/lidl/netto?
No def not, just because it seems foreignish.
Tesco have always been a higher priced supermarket hence their high profits.
They fool people into thinking they are cheaper with limited end of isle offers when charging full whack for the rest. Look at the SELs on price matches with other supermarkets, they follow Asda and only match, not beat. They have never won "The Cheapest Supermarket" award ever afaik. Asda wins it every year.

I bought some tesco value curry sauce tins the other day andthe price had gone up to 1.12 instead of 12 p!!!!I was horrified and put them all back on the shelf cos I can buy Patak's for cheaper than that!!
Anyway long and short of it three weeks later it's back down to 10p a tin now I thought it was a shop mistake but all the other tesco's in my area (I checked 3 others were all the same price). So I really dunno what they were playing at!

sounds like tescos forgetting the word "no" in the title of their cheap range.

Four pages and no one mentions climate change?

Orange juice and Tomato's have both risen in price based upon poor crop yields. Same with Eggs. And Bread. And Fruit. And Vegetables. And...

    QUOTE]

Hardly, its more likely global inflation, China was keeping the lid on it by working for peanuts and making everthing for the West on the cheap - but now they're hoovering up commoditites left, right and centre, everything is getting more expensive - the high price of oil (cough, Iraq) doesn't help much either.

Doesn't anyone wonder why Gordon Brown (sorry, The Bank of England) keeps cranking up interest rates...

This is why the price of your cornflakes, sugar, spread etc is going up...

"The global rush to switch from oil to energy derived from plants will drive deforestation, push small farmers off the land and lead to serious food shortages and increased poverty unless carefully managed, says the most comprehensive survey yet completed of energy crops."

"...Last year more than a third of the entire US maize crop went to ethanol for fuel, a 48% increase on 2005..."

"...most commonly obtained from maize, soya beans, oil palms, sugar cane, sunflower and trees..."

Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to p*** us off.

I know! It took me a while to work out why shopping at Lidl was so much less hassle, and less stress. Then I sussed it:

Take tinned tomatoes as an example.

In Tescos you'd probably have at least 10 different varieties packaged in different sized tins, on different shelves, from different brands, some on offer, some value, some with herbs in etc, even mammoth sized catering-type tins... some priced per 100g, some per kilo etc. You do your head in trying to work out what's the best offer and leave the supermarket more stressed with each aisle you walk down.

In Lidl there are 2 types of tinned tomatoes. Chopped and not chopped. That's it. Pile em high, sell em cheap; currently at my store 15p and 19 respectively. No stress, no bother, and probably equivalent to the cheapest tin in Tesco anyway.

Job's a good'un, and I've saved an hour of my life this week and my feet don't hurt from walking around on Tesco's hard floors.

Sometimes choice isn't all it's cracked up to be.

There are times when tesco is better value - the HUGE bags of pasta twists for example, and sometimes local shops are better for fruit & veg (when Lidl's isn't 1/2 price). Milk is always cheaper locally at £1 for 4 litres. But for most basic goods, Lidl wins hands down - the quality is good, the price is right, and you don't have to be Carol Vorderman to work out which product to buy each time. :rotfl:

Get a blender or hand whisk and you can chop your own tinned tomatoes (from Netto in my case)!

Do you reckon they're hiking prices here there and everywhere so they can soon have a "we've dropped our prices" advert and not break advertising standards rules?
