I used ASDA home delivery recently and was amazed by how cheap some products were. At the same time though, some products were cheaper in Tesco. I tend to drop by ASDA if I can, although ALDI & LIDL are having a price war at the moment which is nice :D

It's all about being savvy consumers and not being screwed by the corporate giants... that's why we're MoneySavers! :T
  • Regarding r&r...I seem to remembering reading on the bottom of one of my Tesco receipts recently that they have a new policy regarding this, and to see instore for details, only thing is I keep forgetting to look (and now I'm going to Sainsburys and using the local farm shops more now, I don't go to Tesco that often anyway). I am sure someone here though can give more info?

They now give double the difference in any price discrepancy rather than all your money back for the item plus you got to keep it

They have changed it, but not exactly sure what to.

Three weeks ago my Mam bought the new Pringles, deluxe or classic or whatever they are. They were all badged up as buy one get one free, so she got 4 to keep in for when she has friends round, thinking she was paying for 2.

On checking her recipt at home she'd been charged for all 4. She was in store the next day and went to the returns counter, but was told that the offer had finished a two days before, and that no refund would be given. The signs were still actually up as she was complaining. She protested, but was told no refund and if she didn't like that she could file a complaint form, which she did.

We got a letter last week from the store manager, not very appologetic either, saying that they would refund if she took the recipt in again. They'd seen it once, so no idea why. She binned the recipt after being told no the first time.

I won't shop at Tesco anymore, i've hated for a while. No doubt my Mam still will though.

I'm finding that my local Tesco ( a store the size of a small principality) has:
Put value prices up week on week. Twin pack garlic batons are the latest thing to be cheaper/same price in the regular line.
Is constantly out of stock on some value lines.
Has redudced the quality of some value products. Value cling wrap which used to be just about ok is now next to useless and as for value DW tabs, well, save ya money half a regular Tesco tab cleans better IMO

Value stuff used to be really cheap didn't it? Flour was 9p a large bag.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

How about on the vine tomatoes (loose) at 90p per pound!!!

In my local extra store you can't buy loose tomatoes unless you opt for the ones above. Beats me why people will pay more for food with a couple of extra stalks on.

Also they make it difficult to price compare between value/normal and finest by having different labelling, ie ??p per kg, ??p per apple and ??p per pack.

Some of the value stuff especially fruit and veg works out at just a couple of pence less (in some cases more!!!).

You really have to be shrewd to get the best deal.

Interesting to see what you are saying about tesco's pricing refunds. I did an on line shop for yesterday and when it came, i had bought 2 items @ £1.78 (on offer) but was charged 2@£4 ,also some tomatoes had yesterdays date on them , so i rang customer services for refund on over-charge and was told "Oh there seems to be a lot wrong with your delivery, i will have to contact the store and get them to sort it out" I told her the 2 items i bought @ £1.78 each , had a big full page display on the website , so no way was i paying 2@£4 and why couldnt she do the refund. I was honestly made to feel like a fraud for ringing asking for a refund. So whats going on ?
  • i've found Tesco pricing has gone haywire. The other day the cheapest spread they had (in all ranges) was £1.21, Hipp Organic baby milk had gone from £4.99 (as it had been for the past 6 months ) up to £6.38 (although by the following weekend it was back down to £4.98!) and staples such as bread and fruit juice have gone up horrendously. I've been shopping in Lidls and only buying nappies and baby milk in Tesco and I couldn't believe the difference. 'Every little helps'... that's why I go elsewhere!

Do you reckon they're hiking prices here there and everywhere so they can soon have a "we've dropped our prices" advert and not break advertising standards rules?
