If anyones interested if you go on the royal mail website you can order a free postage guild.Like the one they have to measure in the post office. Its good as a guild to how much to charge for postage.

I like yourself started rummaging around over the last month to sell bits and pieces on Ebay. I was slightly thwarted in my plans as had a stack of Xbox games to sell and Ebay came back to me say I could only sell five a month as I am new seller. The joke is that they want to make sure you get any negative feedback - I have sold around 20 items over the last month and only two people have bothered to put comments in. Also got caught on postage charges which came out higher than anticipated (and I had weighed them at home). There does not seem to be any consistency with postal charges as they seem to vary where you choose to post. (I have to post at rural PO's) Good luck on your challenge.0

i agree about the post costs, one day i took a parcel to actually get it weighed at the post office, and then charged the buyer what they said, when i took the parcel back in the next day to actually post it (to the same post office0 they charged me less! crazy. i didnt know you could be restricted on selling.
i have added a couple of more things and have relisted a couple of things that didnt sellListing 1000 things on ebay 48/1000 (952 to go)0 -
I don't understand why postal charges seem to be a mystery, they are clearly published and cannot vary.
The only difference can possibly be the size, if you weigh something unwrapped and then pack in too bulky a parcel you might go from a large letter to a small parcel, but that's about it.
As for feedback, if you leave it as soon as you despatch items some buyers are more inclined to leave it back, although some buyers, and sellers, just don't bother with it. I you are. It getting a fairly good percentage of feedback then that may indicate a problem, some people if they are only mildly unhappy with a transaction will just not leave feedback at all rather than leave poor feedback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well I had 98 listings end last night and sold 28 of those (so long as the buyers all pay up), so pretty pleased. Now the bit I hate - packing and posting. They're going to love me at the post office!0

i have got some things to list at weekend adn some things to send out. i always have chat with the ladies in the post office so its a social visit so i dont mind, but i do hate all that wrapping up! when the girls were younger I would get them to do it and they thought it was fun but now they find it boring too.
my neighboiur sells 50p pieces with odd things on the back and she does quite well, it seems funny to sell money, does anyone else do that?Listing 1000 things on ebay 48/1000 (952 to go)0 -

Pah! Yet another eBay swipe at private sellers:
From September 5th - "Final value fees will be charged based on the combined value of the item listed plus postage. For example, if an item sells for £20 with postage cost of £4, the final value fee will be charged based on the combined value of £24. This will not apply if the listing offers collection only."
So basically private sellers will either have to accept less for their items than others, or else will have to charge higher postage (thus making their items less attractive to buyers) than identical items from business sellers.
Great. Thanks for the ever increasing discrimination against private sellers, eBay.For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
