1,000 ebay list challenge
Comments

Well, it'll be a challenge, that's for sure.
Don't underestimate the time that it'll take to photograph everything, prepare good descriptions, list everything, pack the sales and then take them to the post office.
Good luck, you will be very busy.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Great idea, blackbetty. Wishing you every success with your plan:beer:
Am tempted to join your challenge myself but I've ebayed most of what wasn't nailed down already. All I have left of my own now is bigger, heavier stuff which isn't valuable/collectable etc and not in great demand on ebay because of the postage costs. Am slowly getting rid of that through carboot sales.
I sympathise with you living with a hoarder as I do too:(. Mine finds it impossible to part with anything and no amount of threats from me have made him change his ways. At least if I get rid of my own surplus stuff I'm clearing some space and making a bit of sorely-needed cash too.
Am subscribing to your thread as I'm keen to see how it all goes.
Well done on making a start:T0 -

Your right its a big job. Good idea for a thread to keep us all who plan to do this motivated. My thinking was just to post one day a week and clearly state this in the description, I know if might put some buyers off but I think it will be better to lose a few buyers than have to go up to the PO every day few days.0 -

That would mean you would have to show a possible 6 or 7 day despatch time- and that is now beyond what most buyers consider normal. ebay suggest 3 day despatch or less, and since you have no control over when buyers pay that would potentially mean 2 trips a week to the PO.
Seriously, you need to browse the ebay forum (see my sig), a 6 day despatch will kill your stars and your account could well be comrpomised before you even get off the ground.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks that idea is no good then
Have you any suggestions I don't want to be going to the PO every day. I could time the listings so they all end on the same day even if they are not started at the same time. However I don't think this would work either as not everyone pays up very quickly. 0 -

You could get away with say a 3 day despatch and go twice a week- assuming that you get late payers. So end say on Sunday evening, go to PO on Tuesday, but then if you get a late payer who pays after Tuesday make a second run on Friday. It really depends on how much you are listing and mor eimportantly how much sells.
It is easier if you are planning on using just free listing weekends, as you will probably have one week on and one off if so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If the items are going to be small and not very valuable could you use online postage? Queues are so long at my local post office that I now send anything that isn't valuable via online postage and just refund the person if it goes missing. Luckily I haven't had anything go missing for ages.0 -

The items will be low value but unfortunately most of them will be too large to fit into a post box
Its a shame as that is a very good idea there is a post box at the top of my street.
Its the same here with the queues hence why I don't want to go every day.0 -
OK, here's how to do.
1. Download Turbo Lister from eBay website
2. Identify a few items each day/week and photo them, weigh them write up the descriptions into Turbo Lister.
3. Plonk the items in an "Selling on eBay" box.
4. Once a month, list whatever you have in Turbo Lister
5. Profit!
This way you spread the workload of writing up, etc. but still get to sell stuff. And the best thing is that if it doesn't sell, it's still there in Turbo Lister ready to re-list next time round. Do watch out for listing fees though ... try to list on free listing days or else via a selling option that gives free/very cheap listing.
I sell a lot of stuff, and some of my listings are now up to 40p a time which means it soon adds up if I don't make it sell first time! For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
The other option for online postage is that if there is someone in your house who has a job which has a postage collection, then you can print the postage at home and just add to the outgoing mail from the workplace.
So long as you pay the postage I've not yet come across anywhere that objected to this - and it's the way that I send all my non-Special Delivery items now.For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
