Selling your Stuff on Amazon Part 10 - Discussion Thread

I'd appreciate some advice, I sold a book to Spain today and its only my second international sale and I can't remember what i did re the other one which was so long ago. I checked and the buyer has 4 feedback from previous sellers one which was complaining about the Spanish postal system and suggesting the buyer had somehow scammed a refund. The other 3 feedbacks are positive.
What would be my best option for posting the book and what kind of proof is available just in case?
Thanks
Teapot

3 out of 4 isn't bad considering many sellers don't actually leave feedback! Depends on the cost of using a tracked service vs- profit from the book. RM may pay out in event of loss upto £34 at their discretion, amazon will only pay out now if you can provide tracking info.
If you don't want to take the risk with foriegn postal services it may be an idea not to offer international dispatch as amazon have now changed the rules.Do You Twitter?

Thanks,
I think I'll risk it - wasn't a v expensive book - just under £3. Most of my books excepting for the bigger/heavier ones are available internationally, its just that I rarely seem to sell anywhere else, a couple to Eire and one to Denmark in 18 months of selling is all....0 -
I have added a little extra to my 'cancelled' book as I've just realised that when I listed it I listed it around the bottom of the price range but there were quite a few others listed. Mine was cheaper as it is only 'good' and not 'very good'. It looks like all the others have now sold leaving just my copy and the £120 one, and its less than 8000 in the rankings so a possible seller.
Fingers crossed..
Incidentally,I still seem to have the selling fairy in my shed as I ended up selling 7 items yesterday, including the cancelled one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi
I just wondered what your experiences are of Greenmet?
I have listed quite a lot of my books on Greenmet as well as Amazon and I have only sold 1 book on Greenmet so far. Is it worth the bother?? Most of the books I listed there are only 1 or 2 other copies, or in many cases no other copies at all. Is it the case that people don't look on there to buy?

Hi DonnaP
I'm a big fan of GreenMet. It's a very useful way of selling ordinary modern fiction paperbacks as these only go for pence(if at all) on Amazon etc. Before I found GreenMet I was selling them at boot sales for '40p each or 3 for £!' as even if they're new/as new, people are unwilling to pay much more for paperback novels:mad:. We are avid readers and before my LBM was buying paperbacks for my own use whenever I could!
I listed about 150 on GreenMet and it took about 3 weeks before the first one sold. Since then I'm sometimes getting 2 or 3 sales a day and regularly 6 or 8 a week (although things have been a bit quiet this past fortnight for some reason.) I know £3 per book isn't much(if the books are 'as new') but even after postage the profit is a heck of a lot more than 30/40p at a boot sale.
Unless you need the cash really quickly and are prepared to let them go cheaply as a job-lot on eBay or try to sell them at a car boot sale, I'd stick with GreenMet a while longer. Incidentally, early this year I bid on a massive box of excellent-condition paperbacks on eBay with a starting price of 10p. It was 'collect only' and I was the only bidder:j ,possibly because the seller and I live in a rural area and nobody wanted the trek to get them. I listed some of them straight away on GreenMet and sold 6 of them within the first fortnight so a nice little profit there for my 10p for the box full:j.
Good Luck. Please let us know how you get on.
take care

I list all my lower priced stock on Greenmet as well as Amazon and I sell some, not a lot, but enough to want to carry on. I find that I'll sell 2 or 3 in a day, then nothing for 6 weeks, then another 2 or 3...a strange sort of pattern.
I logged in to remind pro sellers to watch their book prices..I have got lazy and once listed I tend not to review mine at all and I just sold this one for 1p:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mary-Wakefield-Whiteoaks-Jalna-Roche/dp/0330101331/ref=sr_1_1/202-9748237-7495052?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1186158552&sr=8-1
In my defence when I listed it there were a dozen at 1p and the sales ranking was well over a million..so I didn't think there was much hope and had it in my box to delist and donate to charity in the next few weeks.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Never come across that before..maybe there was a glitch in the system?
Is it just me or is the amount of feedback being left dropping even more than usual? Despite selling in excess of 50 books last month and 30 this my feedback has dropped to just 7 (luckily all positives) in the past 30 days.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi, I'm really worried, I just received the following e-mail from billing@amazon.com:
Valued Amazon Member,
According to our site policy you will have to confirm that you are the real owner of the Amazon account by completing the following form or else your account will be suspended within 24 hours for investigations.
Never share your Amazon password to anyone!
Establish your proof of identity with ID Verify (free of charge) - an easy way to help others trust you as their trading partner. The process takes about 5 minutes to complete and involves updating your Amazon information. When you're successfully verified, you will receive an ID Verify iconin your feedback profile. Currently, the service is only available to residents of the United States,United Kingdom and U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and Guam.)
I have contacted Amazon helpline and they've told me it's a phishing e-mail, but I'm still worried in case my account is closed! I have a high feedback rating and no problems at all with any buyers.0 -

I've never seen the 'ID Verify icon' on Amazon, and the poor English in 'never share your Amazon password to anyone!' also rings alarm bells. The fact that you have contacted Customer Services and they have confirmed it's a phishing e-mail would be enough for me.
I wouldn't worry.
