Hi

I have just received a question about one of my books.

Someone has said they have been searching for years for a copy of this particular book they remember from their childhood and was my book the same one.

I sent them a message confirming that it was, but in the meantime, I have upped the price of the book a bit! I feel really tight! If they don't buy, I'll drop it down again.

I can't believe how bad I feel about this :o

I've never seen the 'ID Verify icon' on Amazon, and the poor English in 'never share your Amazon password to anyone!' also rings alarm bells. The fact that you have contacted Customer Services and they have confirmed it's a phishing e-mail would be enough for me.

I wouldn't worry.

FFM :)

Thanks FFM,

The Advisor I spoke to on Amazon was at times really difficult to understand and I was still concerned after putting the phone down as she immediately informed me it was a phishing e-mail and I felt it may have been genuine as it came from billing@amazon.com and they might close my account :-( if i did'nt comply.

When I clicked the link given below the e-mail, it took me to a page 100% similar to Amazon and asked for my e-mail and password, it was at this stage that I became suspicious, although I'm now sure it was a phising e-mail! but still can't understand how they got my e-mail etc, as it is difficult on Amazon compared to Ebay and I have never recevied any ever from Ebay or Amazon prior to this.

sara,

Have you answered any questions about your stock lately ? They sometimes obtain it this way, billing@amazon is incorrect anyway as its payments@amazon isnt it ??

If its genuine anyway they will give you more than one chance ;)

Sara,

There is a warning on the Seller Announcements board on 2nd August about fraudulent emails that sound just like yours.

• Has anyone any experience of selling CDs on Amazon? I went to a Car boot on Sunday and a stall holder offered me a box of cds for £1 coz he wanted rid of them and didnt want to take them home.
I listed them last night and there about 20 decent priced ones - even if I sell only one I will have made a profit!
So I was just wondering how well cds sell (just out of curiousity)

Thanks

Mishka, your're right I did answer a query about a childrens book, I don't recevie many but I remember this as the book was listed as Used-Good and they asked if it was brand new and at the time I thought it was clear in the listing but answered anyway, this is the only one I've answered.
I did open the link but did'nt enter any information, I'm stil lbaffled by how deceiving the site was it looked exactly like amazons links etc
I've changed my password and logged on this morning to find another e-mail!

I've just checked the Amazon board and it does seem as I recevied the same e-mai as the one mentioned, I don't sell many items and not sure why I was targetted.

Sara,
If you dont sell many items thats why they have chosen you, probably hoping you are so new that you wont be wise the the tricks !!

Good spot really as many people still get fooled by this sort of thing ;)

Can you guys all offer a bit of feedback over packaging ??

Ive just received a DVD for my dinky's and its arrived in 1 layer of bubble wrap, 2 plain white envelopes and brown tape wrapped around the edges. Im not going to give bad feedback but my first thought was how messy it looked and the DVD itself was rattling about in the box so I guess its had a few knocks.

Does anyone else post like this ??

It doesnt seem protective at all but really there is just as much wrapping as a jiffy bag

• Hi Mishka

I usually add a couple of small pieces of bubble wrap inside dvd/pc game cases to stop the disc coming loose and rattling around.

For Amazon and Play I use new envelopes, whereas for Ebay, Ebid and GM I use 'recycled' bits and pieces. My main concern is that the item arrives undamaged.

I did have a few days last month where I ran out of F3/G4 size envelopes and was making do with cardboard/bubble protection and then using an A4 envelope - at the time I also only had brown parcel tape - I must admit I didn't like the 'look' of my packages - but everything was well protected.

I wouldn't mark a seller down based on appearance - but I would contact them if the item arrived damaged - if they sorted everything out to my satisfaction I would give them full marks.

I usually use the Jiffy bags from the poundshop although have to admit when I have ran out of them, I do wrap in bubble and place in the brown envelope also inserting bubble inside the dvd case.

Personally I would leave positive feedback if DVD was fine although would send a polite e-mail to the seller.
