Welcome Newboy !
We all use different methods of posting so you will get varied responses. I prefer to use a plain jiffy bag, I either buy from Viking, an online shop..where special offers make the bags quite reasonably priced, or at my local 99p shop where I can get 10 standard book sized ones for 99p. For larger books I use bubble wrap from my local Tesco (they throw it out and are happy for me to tke it) and the plastic posting bags that I tend to buy from https://secure.bos1.co.uk/~auctionp/packaging/login.php?osCsid=82f60fd1088f905afb65f12811a7c17f but there are plenty of other stockists online or on ebay.
As for posting, a 'standard' novel tends to be to thick to go as a large letter so needs to go as a package and second class postage will usually £1.52. Some older novels, especially sci fi can go as large letter unless you have a difficult post office like me that rarely allow anything to go large letter.
Good luck with the sales. Hello Newboy, welcome to MSE and our little old thread.
Well done on taking the plunge with Priority Books, I would if I had the space, do I really need a kitchen? maybe not? we'll see....
I use jiffys from Viking, I get the maillite ones in size D1 and F1 but I know that lots of thread users can get them from pound shops, mine isn't that good I'm afraid.
The plastic mailling backs can be bought on ebay but you'll need some bubble around the book first - supermarkets are great for that, only yesterday I came home with about 30 sheets of bubble from Tesco - I raided the cage that they'd put all the rubbish in - rubbish, no!!!! how dare they throw good bubble away? Got lots of odd looks but who cares? I did ask first but then she went to do something somewhere else so it just looked like I was helping myself.
Not altogether sure about the Olympic targets, I know that it's all to do with earning extra apart from the usual income but I'm not sure how the amounts were arrived at0 -

Oh dear, Rodney - you have got it real bad if that is a serious consideration :rotfl:

Welcome to the thread Newboy
Good luck with the listing, as a general rule, the more you list, the more you will sell and your £1k should be achievable.
Bulk buys are where I have had my biggest finds and made most of my money. I do enjoy strolling around charity shops and boot fairs from time to time - but you need to know what you are looking for. Bulk buys are also a cheap way to learn what is a penny wonder.
I've heard good things about Priority's books and Chris is a great guy. He lives too far from me to buy from him, otherwise I would be tempted.

Hi, can anyone advise me? I got an email saying my item had sold and I've been paid, went to amozon and it all matches up so do I just dispatch it now? It seems too easy!
Sorry this is such a dumb question but I've only sold on ebay before and that makes it quite complicated compared tot his!0 -
Yep, you've checked the 'sold despatch now' email is genuine, which never hurts, so send the book within 2 working days and all will be fine.
I'm going to move your question to the main Amazon thread so feel free to ask anything more you might want to know. We all started at the beginning so no question is too basic for us, we are all still learning.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Newboy, welcome to the thread.
Did you get a whole pallet? I did, and I can tell you that when it turns up it is a bit of shock to the system. It's MASSIVE!!!
Once you've recovered, list as many as you possibly can and then list some more. The first 3 days I worked between 16 and 18 hours a day just to clear my living room - I was lucky it was a bank holiday.
It does pay off though and you should be able to reach your £1000 by October.
Good luck.2009: Headphones, Nintendo DSi , Baking Kit

Hi 4maxine
I already have lots of book listed and waiting to list, but I was also thinking about getting some more from Priority books.
But where do you put them all while they are waiting to sell. I have run out of places now, and we have only just moved to a bigger house! (need to sell more books before we can move again!)
I haven't even started on my massive 1970's / 1980's punk record collection in the loft!

Donna, I have almost run out of room so have reluctantly decided not to go down the Priority books route. maybe if I have a real clear out I might be able to squeeze a few more in but definitely not a pallet load. I reckin I have room for no more than about another 300 books...maybe if you could find someone near to you they might be able to share a load and ease the storage problem?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
