  • Hi, thanks for the tip. The only acknowledgments I received were from 2 and a bit years ago when I was writing to them. Since then, they have not communicated with me at all. I guess I could try using their online webform as a last ditch attempt at avoiding going to court, thank you.
  • Proceed to issue a legal claim via MCOL. Plenty of useful info in the FAQs. Costs are not usually recoverable in the Small Claims track but the court fees are if you win.

    thanks for the info!

so would you suggest not bothering to go via the webform?

It's completely up to you but it seems odd not to try a route which costs nothing and has proven to be successful in similar circumstances

My view is that legal action should always be the very last resort

As some ask, this is a view on the USA position

    I found this interesting!
This regulation applies to all airline flights departing from an EU airport or to any airline licensed in the EU if that flight is departing from an airport outside the EU to a destination at an airport in an EU member state.

The seems to exclude flights from outside the EU by non EU carriers
  • I flew home from Jakarta to London (return) over Xmas with SriLankan Airlines (via Colombo). The first returning flight (LHR - COL) was delayed 6 hrs due to the incoming flight being delayed. The staff at Heathrow gave meal vouchers for lunch. I consequently missed the COL - CGK (Jakarta) leg. The staff at Colombo put me on the next suitable flight and gave me some very nice hotel accommodation with meals included. All in all I arrived at Jakarta 12 hours later than planned.

Having read the article I knew exactly which paperwork to keep hold of in order to claim my EUR 600. I sent the paperwork and claim letter to SriLankan and a month later to the CAA. It took a while but SriLankan sent the cheque at the end of March.

    Thank you MSE!

In my original complaint against Thomas Cook they directed me to the AESA in Spain, as the delay happened in Spain. Recital 22 of EC 261 states "Member states should ensure and supervise general compliance by their carriers with this regulation and designate an appropriate body to carry out such enforcement tasks"
As the AESA found in my favour, and TC still refuse to respond to them, or pay the compensation they say I am entitled to, should the CAA not be prepared to get involved.

    Hi,

I just tried to use their online claim form, but I could not proceed as apparently it only works for cancelled flights - I therefore received the message that, as my flight had not been cancelled, I could not claim compensation.

  • Hi has anyone heard of the company claims4flights and are they genuine. I know they will take a cut of the money but my elderly parents would rather use them than have the hassle. however i can find very little about them on line and am a little cautious. Thanks

stevenrobertward, I'd never heard of them either so did a search and claims4flights is the trading name of Loci London Limited which does seem to be registered with Companies House. They want 20% of the compensation. Sorry but that's all I can tell you.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!
