I've not got more than 10% of my outstanding mortgage saved away!

That's brilliant :T . It's such a piece of mind to have savings behind you.

    This just gets better :D

I called Tesco up just now and have set up a regular payment of £727.27 each month on top of the £376.90 mortgage payment, this being the maximum (20%) I can repay each month without penalty.

A sum of £1,104.17 per month on the mortgage, but I figure I just as well do it while I am earning the money so if anything happens in the future I have less of a burden to worry about :)
  • Good luck- it sounds like you are making great headway:T

that way, in 5 years time I will not need the lump sum of savings and it will be mine to squander on holidays, hookers & drugs (I only do one of these really and it usually involves Micky Mouse, so you can work out which it is!).

    Here goes...Wish me luck...

I so hope you're talking about holidays _pale_.

Really well done on your progress so far. Don't forget when your new big mortgage payment goes out you'll have 83p left in the account to Tilly Tidy :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Haha, of course it's the holidays. Drugs are for losers and hookers are for loners. :p

I'm sure I can do something with that 83p LOL.

I've cleared £500 from eBay selling in the past fortnight after fees.

I get paid in a weeks time and still have half of last months salary left in the current account. Won't do it yet, but think I can stick another £1k in savings in a week or so. :D
  • Sounds like you are doing a great job! Well done on the ebay success too:)

Pay day on Friday, so updated signature with latest ShareSave statement and moved another £250 to ISA which I won't be needing before Friday.

Amazing seeing the progress like this. It's no longer just numbers, it's a game!

    Pay day!!!

    £500 moved straight into savings.
£250 due to go out to regular savers A/C
£730 overpayment set to happen on 1st September.

That's about £1500 this month towards the mortgage. :j

May be able to do more in September as I have an expenses claim due to me (I've already paid out of pocket for the expenses) and towards the end of September my Solar system is due for a FIT payment of between £600 & £700.

I'm also contemplating selling my hot tub. The money from it would go straight into the mortgage savings and the monthly cost of running it (electricity & chemicals) will reduce my monthy outgoings & utility bills. < Still unsure about this one...

Took the decision to sell the hot tub, mate paid £500 deposit last night, put it straight into the ISA account this morning. He'll pay the balance within the month.
