What is your take on "I love you, but I'm not In love with you"

Sometimes a partner will let you know they have fallen out of love, treat you badly, and basically let it die, then you leave and they are devastated, denial, disbelief, but it's too late, too much damage, too much hurt.
Some people put too much emphasis into being "in love" and miss the bigger picture. I blame immaturity, believing the movies and celebrity nonsense, chasing rainbows when the pot of gold was under your nose.0 -
It could well be that the lust has gone, and cosy familiarity and kinship has taken over.
You can have lust and familiarity and kinship, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
