JSA - under 25 - having to sign on every week and far away from home?

I am with the OP on this one. Makes no sense what so ever that her daughter has to take three buses to the job centre when there is one a 15 minute walk around the corner.
The walk would do her good and she could spend the time she has saved not getting three buses looking for a job.
Just because the OP's daughter is an unemployed 23 year old does not mean she does not want to work. Believe it or not but there are plenty of unemployed people who want to work but have not got that break yet. When I was unemployed in 2007 it took me 7 months to find a job.
I lost all respect I had for the DWP in 2007 when it took me 3 months to prove to them that I had paid enough class 2 national insurance contribution in the previous 13 years I had been employed to qualify for contribution based JSA. In the end I had to take my last two years P60'S down to the job centre and get them to fax them off to prove I was eligible for Contribution based JSA.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
But the bus fare issue is not an issue, apart for her signing day JCP will refund all her fares, she just has to show her ticket and ask!0

BUT I am talking about bus fares FOR the sign on days - this will not be refunded.
If she was signing on in the local JC - there would be no fares.
So the bus fare IS an issue. Every week. As she was asked to sign on every week.
Besides, you are clearly not in London and do not understand about topping up Oysters - JC does not have Oyster readers to know how much you have spent on a journey to/from them. Those are not paper tickets that you can show as proof of the journey made/cost.0 -

If you have an Oyster Card web account, you can download up to eight weeks travel history.0 -
Only after you complete the travel.
Again - they do not reimburse for travel to/from signing on appointments. And this is the cost that is unnecessary as there is a JC within walking distance of where we live.0 -
Go see your MP.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

My 18 year old daughter does not sign on at the nearest JC and is also with a 'U25' advisor. It costs her 4.20 each time (weekly) - one bus and a good walk each way - we live 3 miles from the centre of a big city so not out in the sticks. Not sure why you think this is unusual.....0

I did not know this is the norm.
You are the very first person on this thread to tell me it happens somewhere else so thanks for that.
I assumed that everyone goes to their local JC, located in their own Borough - obviously now I see this is not the case and that it is age related.
Still do not understand WHY not have under 25's advisers attached to local JC.
Thanks.0 -

This actually is a fair comment, I don't know about other JC's, but ours is quite large with an unused (by the public, it's probably offices) upstairs that could possibly be utilised for U25's.0 -
I can see where OP is coming from regarding her Daughter having to sign at a JC that is going to cost £4.40 each week for signing and then concerns over how to get travel fares for appointments on non signing days.
I don't know how getting receipts for individual journeys on Oyster Cards works but there must be some way for people whether in work claiming travel expenses or people in situation of OP's Daughter.
OP: My advice to you would be to go on the Public Transport board and start a thread asking how to get receipts for individual journeys. It may the case that JC will have a book of fares so will be able to do refunds for appointments at JC on non signing days from that. If your Daughter has to attend training, then they might also have list of fares to do refunds on the day. I'm surprised that there isn't a way to get receipts when you end the journey for this reason which is why I've suggested posting in Public Transport board.0
