JSA - under 25 - having to sign on every week and far away from home?

They can ask her to do any reasonable amount of steps and to be fair 20 isn't many when you break it down, access UJ daily and there is 7, dependant upon the type of work she is looking for another two/three sites per day turns that into 21 steps, a few spec C.V. applications or phone calls and you are up to 30 steps.
Thats interesting what you say about looking at job web sites counting as an action. My adviser told me that the UJM counted as 1 action but any other sites I visit that day do not count, as web search (however many sites you look at) just counts as 1 per day. I have to make up the other actions by phoning / sending letters etc.0 -

HOW can people on JSA take as many buses as they like for £2.20 per day?
rather than be rude, explain please?
Well she's too lazy to find out how much the bus costs.
Like I said, the daily cap for people on JSA is £2.20 per day.
The daily cap for people who work is £4.400 -

This is a place where she was scheduled for her regular, weekly sign on sessions - nobody reimburses for that.
It clearly states in the formal interview letter that any attendance on non signing days can be re-embursed.
As she is expected to travel 90 minutes to work then it reasonable for her to travel to another JCP for specialist help that the government provide for young people to support them with jobsearch, she will also be referred to courses so daily travel will soon be expected, agiain fees will be re-embursed.0 -

Also it is not about attendance on non-signing days but having to sign on every week in a place that is 3 bus rides away (at £1.40 per bus journey that is 8.40 each time ie every week) rather than local JC which is within walking distance.
This was probably a basic new claim interview by an assistant adviser to get her JSA in paymnet. They can request any amount of reasonable steps or actions at every interview.0 -

Each individual action is a step where I come from, most people have around 30-40 steps, other offices class each contact as a step others what you are required to do. Everyone should have a detailed and individual agreement with their steps detailed.0 -

I have to do 14 steps (7 which must be UJM internet search) if I were to include my other internet searches then this would total 30-40 probably more.
I do think the system in your area is better (more steps but allow all internet searches to be included) as in theory with my system someone only needs to look at UJM, you are very unlikely going to find a job just by looking at that one.0 -
I'm going to sound like a right div here, but I'm obviously missing something! These "actions" people talk about seems to include web searches, and you are expected to do x amount per day? How can you prove you have done them to the JC though? You could say you've done them, but spend all day on here!

Are these under 25 JC's peculiar to London, as I know we only have one in the town nearest me, and all ages go to it? I don't know about Newcastle mind, so maybe it's just cities?0 -

People should be providing details of jobsearch at every attendance and dependant upon staff and resources JCP can and will contact employers. If people put down looked on x site, b site constantly but not applied for anything then they are obviously not looking vey well. The longer they are unemployed the more JCP should follow up jobsearch.
Each district has different ways of working, all dpends of location. Because crisi loans etc have gone these staff are deployed to schemes such as 18-24.0 -

Why don't you check the facts before you post?
To qualify for half price JSA travel one has to be on JSA for 6 months so in my daughter's case £4.40 daily cap (buses) applies, not the £2.20 one.0 -
Thanks everyone, I did not realise it is different JC for under 25's and can not understand why it needs to be so completely out of the way "in the sticks" and can not be part of the same Borough normal JC.
As I mentioned before, I work and I am not up to date with various banefits' regulations.
Thanks for all the helpful thoughts/advise.0
