Absolutely not! The first time I used it, it was a bit weird, but honestly, hand on heart, was the best money I've spent in a long time. Was caught out a couple months ago, and had to use a tampon. Now that IS gross!!!Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
For the ones who think I am trolling.
Out of all of those options, I'd definitely go with the Kitten! Cuddling up to my cat always used to help me during my period.
OP, I think most of us would know you weren't trolling. Best of Luck, hope you get it rectified - it is sheer hell and you have my sympathies.0 -

Oh so much sympathy. I've been in so much pain that I could barely stand (at work!) and it still sounds like nothing compared to you! Hope the kitten helps. Cuddling makes everything better.0

Unfortunately for some people periods can really be terrible enough to result in them having to take time off from work.
Luckily enough I've never suffered too badly from pain but I have had to have time off work on a couple of occasions because of the amount of blood that I've lost. I'm talking about completely flooding every 20 minutes and needed to wash and change - something that can't easily be done in a workplace.0 -
The thing is, if you're ill, you're ill. I understand this may be inconvenient for the school or the employer, but your body does what it does and sometimes things can't be helped. No-one chooses to feel ill.
No, but the employer does not need to keep employing you, either. You need to get it sorted.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I find my periods much more painful if I drink coffee while I'm on.
When I was 14 I had very painful cycles, not just periods. I read or heard mention of coffee adversely affecting periods, so I stopped drinking coffee altogether and my periods were much more pleasant.
Seven years later I was living in Cuba and I noticed that my first periods over there had been incredibly painful. Eventually I worked out that the only thing which could be affecting me (I was on the pill at the time) was my morning cup of the local coffee. I stopped the coffee the day before I was due on and during my period and they were back to being pain free.
I don't know the physiology of it but it still works for me.
And I second/third/fourth the suggestion of a cup. I too got caught out and had to use a tampon :eek: the pain after that came out! Never again.They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -

I think if this were the case it would be worth the sufferer getting a GP involved and then speaking to a solicitor specialising in employment law. Its very tough for employers, but if it were caused by one of the many illnesses that leads to 'abnormal' levels of discomfort I think that the employer might find themselves in difficulty.

OP I feel for you I really do, I have horr-en-dos pain every month without fail. I agree anyone that says you're being a wimp hasn't experience the pain. I like to think that it's good prep for childbirth - gonna cruise through that
I'm (un)Lucky that some how I always get mine over the weekend so I can afford to sweat it out. I'm usually ripped from my sleep when it happens though
For me I find if I have paracetomol and nurofen, a hot bath and rather unusually deep heat afterwards seems to get me to a level I can cope with.
Exercise has also been a help but I've noticed since I exercise more anyway they have got eversoslightly less painful.
I'm on thyroxine too, but I can't say that has made a difference or not since I've been on it for 15 years...Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.
