I really feel for you and some of the comments on here are just not helping at all. The only thing I will say is be very careful taking drugs for things they aren't prescribed for.
I really think you need to get an appointment with your GP, phone first thing.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Everything that has been prescribed has been taken exactly as my doctor ordered. I am on 12 hour slow release painkillers twice a day so have 24/7 coverage of pain relief. It doesn't seem to work when my period rolls around - It's been really good the last few months so it was a shock to feel it that bad again - after just a few missed tablets and all I wanted was a few suggestions that might help me cope.
I really don't understand why some people seem to be out to get me, it's not like I'm a newbie, I've been around for years and my medication (and pictures of the kittens!) have been mentioned in many threads in the past. Go ahead and look if it really bothers you that much.0 -
I'm due on today but no sign yet.. Not really unusual to be a couple of days late, and I left my job today so all been very emotional and stressful lol.
When I am on, it is usually me lying flat with hubby massaging my tummy which helps a lot, or a hot water bottle, and always lots of chocolate. I drink loads of water anyways but always make an effort to drink more. It's normally a painful two days and then a not too bad four!Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0 -

I'm on your side and if the amount of medication your on is as you say as prescribed then I for one really think a visit to your GP for a gynae referral is needed. Periods can as you say be awful but surely something can be done to alleviate this from happening again.

I agree, no way would I put up with that kind of pain every month, someone needs to look into it for you.0

You have my sympathies as it really sounds like you suffer greatly. My mum used to be the girl in school who'd be off every month, as she be vomiting with the pain. Later on, after she had children, she found she had endometriosis and treating this did help the pain so maybe you should get this checked.
I don't get the level of pain you have but I really find exercise helps since coming off the pill. When it's my time of the month the last thing I feel like doing is my yoga class, but after an hour my pain is gone and I feel so much better.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

Totally agree Torry. OP I think you need to go back to your GP and really make it clear to them what your experiences are every month. I was fobbed off for years, being told it was normal etc etc by some dozy male GP. It wasn't normal to be curled up in bed for 1-2 days a month, being absolutely exhausted and vomitting. I booked myself an apt to see the best GP in the practice to put my foot down about a gynae referral when thankfully he offered one anyway. I was referred to the best gynae in the area who found nothing on the ultrasound (it's common for endo not to show up on ultrasound). He did find some excess fluid somewhere (can't remember where) and apparently that can indicate endometriosis. He did a laparoscopy and found endo. Luckily for me it wasn't extensive and he was able to successfully remove it. However he suspects from looking at my uterus that I have adenomyosis. He said he can't conclusively diagnose it without removing my uterus and sectioning it, but he strongly suspects I have it. Endo is very difficult to diagnose, adenomyosis even more so, but it's worth being aware of the difficulties with diagnosis - I had an ultrasound the previous year and was told 'it's normal, there's nothing wrong'. Obviously having endo isn't great, but I was so relieved to have gotten an answer and to know that I wasn't going mad, it wasn't normal and there was a reason. Get yourself referred, find yourself a good gynae who will work with you to try and sort it out.
Best of luck

How awful for you
, I can't really offer you any pain advice (I only ever get mild to moderate cramps the first day which a hot water bottle sorts out, and my periods are never what you would call heavy) but I wanted to offer my sympathies. I find periods very emotionally draining, I'm on my third day today and I've spent most of the day in tears over things that have happened in the past
. I do find hugging a cat or two helps
. I hope you feel better soon, and do see your doctor, you shouldn't have to deal with that amount of pain.
