glad you liked them sharon, i just took some out of the freezer for myself, will have to make more
  • Thank you so much for the recipe Twink, these biccies are fab!!

Normally my biscuits turn out complete rubbish but these are great! I'm ignoring the fact that none of them are round (put too many on the baking tray so they all merged together to make one big one! I've cut them into squares!:o ) but they still taste great!

My dd has just informed me they are "yummy, yummy, yummy!" She should know she's just eaten five!

I've invited my mum round tomorrow for tea and biscuits! I'm planning on getting the teapot out with matching milk jug, cups, tray etc... With biccies like this, tea should be an event!! :rotfl:

    Thanks again!

LOVE the Anzacs. Thanks, Aussielass. x I overdid the syrup though so couldn't really taste the coconut but they were delicious all the same!

I have lost Queenie's recipe for plain biscuits that you roll up and slice, putting half the dough in the freezer. I've tried searching. Does anyone know where it is?

Stacey, i think someone deliberately made them like that and cut them into squares, it would work okay i am sure, glad you and dd liked them, hope Mum does too, enjoy your afternoon tea

You've all inspired me to make biscuits. :D Sadly I don't have all the ingredients in for hobnobs so I made fork biscuits instead. They are lovely, and really simple to make. They went onto the tray looking a bit sad but they might have the potential to look professional next time. If I remember to spread them out a bit so they don't get stuck together. :rotfl:

(expects flaming. Promise I'll make hobnobs next time!)

Gingham this is queenies everyday biscuits

    1/2 lb butter softened
    4oz castor sugar
    1/2 lb sr flour
    1 tsp vanilla essence

beat butter and sugar till light, add essence, fold in flour
mix to smooth dough and knead min or two, roll in sausage shape, 2" diameter
put in fridge, chill till firm, freeze in foil, bag, label and seal
thaw in the wrapping 30 mins in fridge, then cut thinnish slices, put on greased tray, preheated oven, gas 5 190oc 10 mins
put on wire rack and sprinkle with icing sugar

chocolate sub 1oz cocoa for the vanilla
    20z chopped cherries
    2oz chopped walnuts or almonds

think queenies bakes half and freezes half or the roll will keep in the fridge for a few days

Umm, after reading how many Weightwatchers points are in them I think I'll leave the chocolate version until I have people here to help me eat them!

Please scare me and tell me how many points - I may stop eating them then!

Hi all, homemade hobnobs r just cooling on the tray, can't wait to eat one, this is the first lot I've made. I used marg, but do peeps think butter is better for taste and nutrition? I've always got butter in the fridge, had to buy marg especially, and reading another thread I wonder if it would have been better not to buy the marg especially!

DenBo, butter would make the biscuits taste better so dont buy margarine specially for the hobnobs
