Quick question: How long will they last once cooked if I hide them away. Going on hol in a couple of weeks and want to take some to last about ten days but don't want to be baking on day before we go. Will they go off or last for a couple of weeks?

Why not make some up and freeze them. I did that this week, so we had some at the end of the week. Just hide them well under a few other items in the freezer, so they won't be found before your holiday. They defrost very quickly.

Or you could put them into the freezer uncooked and cook before you go or when you get there.

Oooh I had my first ever twinks tonight, sat down with a couple (four) a coffee and had a good cry to united 93. Just what the doctor ordered.
I put cinnamon and sultanas in mine and they are not far from those yummy oat and raisin cookies!

sarah can I ask how much cinnamon and sultanas you added please? I've baked them with cinnamon before and they smelled fab when in the oven, but could hardly taste it once they were baked, I've got some raisins in the cupboard I could add too, but I want to get it right and not add too many.

My son has been test sampling biscuit and cake recipes this week in prep for the Macmillan coffee morning at school tomorrow. He has made the usual suspects , fairy cakes, carrot cake (finally) , flapjack and mini victoria sponges cooked in mini baked bean tins all turned out beautifully but he wanted to take in something that people perhaps haven't tried before so has cooked 48 twinks hobnobs :T.He made a test batch yesterday and took them into school for the 6th form staff to try:mad: and has had glowing reports. He said to them to look on this site for the recipe for twinks hobnobs. So many thanks twink for the great recipe its nationwide appreciated:j:j:j:j

  • Seconded.

My daughter had a fellow Brownie over to play inbetween school and going to Brownies. We decided to all do some baking together and I suggested Twinks hobnobs as they are so quick, easy and tasty. The two girls wanted to take them into Brownies and hand them out. Tey went down so well with the other Brownies and their mums that I was roped into supplying a batch for the Brownie stall at the summer fair and I had four girls all asking if they could come over and bake some!

Talk about a huge hit and social draw they are!
  • I recently made these with a handful of chopped dates and a sprinkle of nutmeg and cinnamon. Lovely!

Latest batch - added a couple of mashed bananas to the dry ingredients before mixing in the melted marg/water/syrup. Very nice and chewy. Another use for cheap bananas.

That sounds like a good idea, I may have to give that one a try.

    ;)
