I thought folk on here might be interested to know the costings of a twink's hobnob. I used stork marg, and asda smart price ingredients, and made 30 biscuits out of the original recipe. :D

    Result: 2.3p per hob nob.:money::money::money:

Munch away frugally ladies, they really are good for our bank balance!:T:T

30? :D i get 50 from my recipe and the biscuits arent small so that would make them even cheaper, thanks for costing the hobnobs for us though
  • i have a birthday party for 8 3 year olds and their parents to cater for on Saturday and i'm going to be making some twink's,
first time i made them both DH and DD loved them - esp DH who said they were lovely and much better than proper hob nobs as he doesn't like them!!
so i am hoping they go down well with the kids and parents!!

  • 50 out of the mix? I managed three.. though they were absolutely gorgeous. :j

Unfortunately my three batches on baking trays all grew and merged into each other and I ended up with three giant rectangular tasty tasty hobnobby blocks.

How have people gone about keeping them nice and biscuitty sized?

glad you like them kersplat, never mind about your waistline, oats are a superfood ;)

sb44 i dont recall anyone adding cocoa powder to the hobnobs, might be ok

sandy2 i think somebody rolled the mix out and used cutters but might be a bit sticky, i suppose you could roll in cling film and freeze and cut into slices before right thawed but have never tried that

OH made them, rolled the dough out between cling film and then cut them out so that they were all the same size:rolleyes: . He said it was a bit messy but they did look very nice :D

I think he has a bit too much time on his hands :rotfl:
  • My first attempt at the biscuits... 46 of the little gems have come out the oven and after an initial 'test' they are spanking gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing the recipe Twink... they are a stayer. Especially as the not so nice brand named (small) packet of Hobnobs here are 2.00

glad you like them and lots of variations to try out too, the recipe actually says the mix does 60 biscuits but they must be tiny

rockie, clingfilm a great idea esp if you want to give them as xmas presents

carebearbecky you have to make balls the size of walnut shells but they can be done as a traybake with seeds and nuts added if you like if that is easier
    20 mins at 170o i think

weezl, penny biscuits, i like that :D

good luck with the party dollydaydream
