mrsmcawber...thank you for your reply, I see kindness on these boards all the time and it always amazes me every time. I have recently being buying quorn and have made spag bol with it which she really enjoyed. She is not too fussy regards veg and will eat most but they tend to have to be mixed up with things not just have a scoop of veg on the plate.
I dont think she is sharing lunches at school as if anything has meat in it or been near to it she wont touch it. On the days I eat vegetarain with her she will give me a kiss goodnight on other days its just a hug lol
Some recipes would be great ty:T
Have sent you a pm mrsmcawber0 -
Slimming world's green recipes are meat free (and healthy eating) too.
A quick search on ebay reveals:

I know someone who when she became a vegetarian she put 3 stone on in weight, i think she's managed to get it under control now but maybe looking into the fat content of items such as peanut butter may help. I could be wrong but my understanding is that peanut butter is high in fat, if its not someone pleases set me straight.

As for your daughters typical daily diet, it doesn't sound that bad, unless she is buying from the shop on her way to and from school without saying, but even so as others have said a trip tot he doctors may help to sort one or two things out.
Well done for being so supportive:T0 -
Peanut butter is really high in fat, but is also very good for you in appropriate quantities.
Nuts are really good for you but also have high fat content.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -

Changing habits can be a long and sometimes painful process. However, you have to make a start somewhere. I hate the title, but have you ever seen 'Honey You're Killing the Kids?' The whole lifestyle of the people on this programme is changed over three weeks. This includes the parents habits as well.
One of the important things they do is to clear the house of bad foods. The good meals are dished up and either eaten or not - no replacements! If you google the title there is a website with the recipes and a free health newsletter. As you can imagine there can be tears before bedtime, but the success rate after 3 weeks is 99%.
One of the things they do is mum and daughter doing the same thing - a togetherness thing. They choose different things for the kids to do e.g. martial arts, drama (it includes dance). They do family days out.
A really big change they do is to take the TV out of the bedrooms and limit TV watching. This forces the child to find other amusements.
It works. As already said here, it is a COMPLETE life change that can be hard to start, but includes lots of fun.
Tracey, I've just looked and I've got the title wrong. It is 'Honey WE'RE Killing the Kids'. However the sight is wonderful. I'm sure that you would find it very helpful and supportive.

This link should get you there.
Good luck.

Have you tried the vegetarian society website, they have info & recipe booklets you can download or send off for, this page might be a good starting point:

Thank you once again for all your helpful replys. In response to the peanut butter, I know it is high in fat but she doesnt have huge amounts in her rolls and I use the organic wholemeal one which doenst have added sugar. I have swapped the evening 'dose' for the very light cheese triangles, so if she is hungry she has one of those on a couple of ryvita.
We have had a go at rollerskating, they are in the cupboard now, but maybe we should get them out again! I am going to do a meal plan for the next week using the vegetarian thread on the old style board plus some of the other links people have posted. I will get my dd input on it too. I am going to do some form of excercise with her everynight even if it is a small thing...all will help. I wish I could get a trampoline as I would love one but unfortunately our garden is just too small.
I will keep you posted to our progress.0 -
I think my child may end up in the same situation; over weight. She is only 1 years old now, but after eating her meal she will take off other peoples plates. Also if she has her meal and we eat later she is like abegging dog around the table and we end up feeding her again from our plates.
She is getting proper portions for her meal and then yogurt or pudding after; is this normal for a 1 year old to be constantly filling her face?!
(she isn't overweight at the minute, but i can see if she continues in this way she soon will be).0
