Thanks for your suggestions everyone, special thanks to Dave1193.... I tried your suggestions of offering the celery a pay as go mobile, and then i called it boring, but the darned thing is still sat there hogging a whole shelf in the fridge.
So i went with the sensible option of freezing it for when i make another soup requiring its services.

Celery & Stilton soup is gorgeous.
I'm probably in the minority, but quite like it braised with hm tomato sauce.0 -

I love it braised, but never had it braised with tomato sauce.
For sceptics, braised celery is everything raw celery isn't so don't imagine it eating as a hot salad...its melting and soft and warming and delicious.0 -

Ah ha! Doesn't sound quite so boring now does it!!Wedding in Summer 2012 savings: €100 it's a start!0 -
i forgot that i also use it as part of a basic trio base for many dishes, chopped celery, onion and carrot, bulks out the dish and adds to your 5 a day0

You could use it in a tuna and noodle bake or could add it to a vegetable lasagne. Both are very delicious0

I love it braised too - usually in vegetable stock, drained and with a white/cheese sauce (made with milk and some of the cooking liquor). Any meal that starts with chopped onions - casseroles, bolognaise, soup etc. etc. etc. tends to have finely chopped celery added as well - it's an extra veg that nobody in my house ever notices!0

Ooh - it's really nice raw if you fill the middle with garlic and herb cream cheese and chop it into pieces as a snack - yummy!Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Hi Minette,
I always keep celery in the fridge for adding to soups, stew/casseroles and stocks.
I've added your thread to the existing one on celery which should give you more ideas.
