Delia's celery soup is delish, and freezable. I think you'll need to give some away though :-)

    Hi angela,

I love celery but my celery hating husband even enjoys celery soup.

    These threads may help:

    What to do with celery

    Freezing Celery ??

    Keeping celery

    Celery Soup

I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the suggestions together.

  • Ooooh, I love celery, I would buy some from you if you lived near me!

I love in in a stir fry, but soup is probably a better way of getting rid of lots of it. Nigel Slater does a recipe for celery gratin that looks lovely if a little calorific, will dig it out for you if you fancy. Braised celery is nice, and it is great just added to the base of your usual meals like risotto/spag bol/stew etc, although I guess you don't want absolutely everything you eat to taste like celery!

I nicked thriftlady's ide aof veg hash - finely chopped mix (in processor or by hand) of onion, celery and carrot frozen as a base for soups, spag bol etc.

I think 30 heads of celery would last me a year!

  • i love celery on its own, cut a small stick and get some Philly and spread it on the U bit of the celery & enjoy! :D
I also used to do the same with peanut butter (instead of Philly!)

You could also share it amongst your friends & family so they could make soups etc too?

  • Most people at your plot would probably love to be able to grow celery like that (I would). How about initiating a swap for something you could use lots of? After you've taken everything you can use of course!
