Another way of watching BT Sport almost for free on your TV is via Google Chromecast. You have to buy the Chromecast dongle for £30, which is why I say almost free. You stick it in an HDMI slot on the back of the TV, and any Chromecast enabled app, such as the BBC iPlayer or the BT Sport app will use your wifi to send the pictures to the TV. It works very well. You can also do if from the Chrome browser from your computer, though I haven't tried that.0

At £10 a day? I'm not surprised. One can buy a season ticket cheaper!0 -

I did this in August and just found that it has "reset" my contract and started a new 1 year broadband contract with exit penalties. Not only that, but the previous discounts I had agreed with BT have been cancelled as well "because it is a new contract" so my contract has gone back up to its very old original procing so the "free" BT Sport is going to cost me £140 for the year. This is sharp practise on behalf of BT and needless to say I will be leaving them forever as soon as the year is up.
Still can't quite believe they have treated me this way.....
James, it is a one year contract but they shouldn't have taken your discounts off you. They should have continued. Email the BT Care Team to look into the matter.

Hello, I currently have a standard Sky Digital package (no extra sports).
I want to upgrade to have access to Sky Sports channels but I do not want the Sky service for phone and broadband.
Question: Is there a 'deal' that I can tap in to or do I have to include the said telephone and broadband to get any discounts/vouchers etc?
Thank you.

You'll have to ring up and see what price deal Sky will offer you. For obvious reasons, deals for existing customers are specific and not advertised in the press. You can get an idea of the price by going to MySky and selecting the "upgrade" option. However, you may be able to "haggle" a better deal over the 'phone. Do realise that accepting any special deal will likely lock you into a new minimum term.
Only deal currently is for 2 years free broadband if taking Sky Sports, obviously of no interest to you.0 -
I have been with sky sports since 1997 but stopped at the end of the last football season. I haggled a lot and usually got 50% off but never liked paying a still expensive subscription and having to put up with lots of adverts. I used to enjoy test match cricket so much more on the BBC for free and slowly sky has decreased my enjoyment of more sports, like F1.
So I have decided to only watch free to air sports and watch films instead. I missed the PGA golf for the first time in years but it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be:) There might be times when I just have to watch something, so I will either go to the pub or try now tv but I don't intend to go back to paying for a monthly subscription.0 -
ISP Plusnet provide very economicaly priced broadband & have a good service reputation. Plusnet now have BT Sport for £5.50 month (standard defnition) or £7.50 month (HD).
You need a satelite dish, a SKY+ box, a valid viewing card.
I think this is good value. See the Plus net site for full details0 -
I know this is about football but with regards to the article, you have ESPN listed as showing ice hockey but not Premier Sports. The (North American) National Hockey League rights are currently in the possession of Premier Sports, alongside some other ice hockey rights. ESPN did have the rights to the Russian Kontinental Hockey League but I'm not sure whether they still have this but even when they did have them it was limited coverage. I figure this is worth flagging simply because there are NHL fans in the UK so it might mislead them into thinking ESPN had the rights again (they haven't had them since 2012).
On the subject, there is also NHL GameCentre Live for watching the NHL for the minority of people who might be interested.
And I've just realised this article is from 2013 so I don't know whether it would be updated. Still, it had this information incorrect when it was written.0 -
I tried Sky Sports via Now TV for the first time this weekend and would say that the note of caution in the MSE article about previous performance is warranted.
As the Premier League matches got underway, I experienced a huge deterioration in streaming quality, suggesting that the service couldn't cope with the demand. 2 of the 3 Premier League matches were interrupted multiple times by buffering and the problem was evidently not with my fibre connection., which was having no difficulty running other apps.
Now TV (Entertainment, Movies & Sport) suffered a series of other technical issues this weekend, including outages on Friday and Sunday evening.
There’s definitely a market for Now TV, in my view, but it’s currently a good idea that is being undermined by its unreliability.0 -

They don't use a Content Delivery Network (CDN), pen1. Hence when theres anything like high/medium demand it can do what you describe above or just crash completely.0
